How impressive!! What power!! OH to have a president, congress and people willing to stand up to an evil that is not all that much different that those we faced in that war!!! Now we wring our hands and say that everything is our fault!!

A brief history of the unit my Dad fought with in Burma. He also spent time in China and India. This theater of operations, the "CBI" is often forgotten when WWII movies or things like this wonderful photo blogs are done.

MARS TASK FORCE in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II

My wife's uncle survived the "Death March" on Bataan.

I agree with LOS. Those are powerful pictures. If WWll occured with our current administration, we would all be learning German or Japanese. My father was an "exeiditer" in WWll in India, Burma and China flying C46's. He was part of what were called Hump Pilots. He is now 91 anbd still doing well!

I guess I can't spell or proof read! Sorry. I'll try to do better. I'm trying to learn about your part of the expediting industry. For the last 12 years, I have been doing it by air. I've talked to some really nice people with Panther, FedExCC, Landstar, and others I have met as they deliver or pick up the freight I have flown. Currently in Laredo awaiting a back haul! What I do is EXACTLY the same as you...only different!

Part of an email from my Dad on this very thing:

"My first try to fly over the hump was in a c-47' we had to turn and fly back to Karchie,Pakistan where we boarded a c-46...where we landed in Kunming, China. The nurse that was killed by a sniper was unloading wounded chinese when she was shot...this was in Myitkyina, Burma, I'll never forget it."

The nurse he was speaking of was a "WAC". She was working on a C-46. She was shot between the eyes by a Jap sniper. My Dad said that they found that sniper tied to a tree so he would not fall out. He said that they "riddled" him with rifle fire. It was NOT cool to shoot non-combatants but the Japs were famous for it.
