For whatever it is worth. You use to be able to change it with a certification from the dealer wear purchased and a inspection from DOT in your state. This was outlawed as of last year. Alot of tri-axle dumps were doing this in Florida. Buy a single axle dump and add additional axles later. PN has been cracking down alot on this lately. Article in Landline I think? I would keep it at 26,000. Most companies would still put you on. We have a 33,000 truck and haven't hauled loads over 5,000. Not sure going to 33,000 would matter that much.

Call your BMV or DMV head office, In Indiana it is called a re-weigh, Just take in the old plate and pay the differrence and you can increase licensed GVW

I would watch carefully with a reweigh. That is not legal anymore in all states. If you have 26000 on the door that is what they will go by in PA. & FL. PA is really picky on this. Found out from Panther safety dept. Several drivers nailed with added tag axles.

A single axle straight truck can only be 32,000 total. 12,000 on the steer, 20,000 on the drive.
