Question for you 3126 owners. I was talking with the mechanic the other day and he seems to think there is a trans bearing failing due to some noise that occurs at idle and on shut down.
When idling there is a sort of rattling noise that will go away when you either raise the rpm slightly or depress the clutch. It also is noticeable when you shut down and the engine causes the truck to shake as it comes to a stop there is a similar rattling noise.
This is in the T300 with a 10spd, the M2 I used to drive with a 6 spd made the exact same noise under the same conditions - I drove that truck for two years and it always did it, never got better or worse. Just looking for opinions - tech is good but more familiar with big engines so I'm wondering if this is something peculiar to baby Cat engines.
