i am thinking about driving for a fleet owner. he told me he would 1099 me is this the way it is for most owners? also how can they do that if you have no vested intrest in the business. no cost at all. is this legal

Yes it is.

You will be either an employee of the owner or a contractor for them.

MOST are contractors and they get a 1099 at the end of the year.

Technically you are a sub-contractor, that is a contractor to a contractor because the owner is a contractor to the carrier.

so if you get 100% fsc can you deduct all your fuel? plus 50.00 a day for meals and room. and thats all you can deduct. ty
