    Panther is a scam.

Well for starters I entered the business in 2008 . Most likely the worst time to get into the business. I had three teams for 1 year plus. They liked my system because I paid them when the delivery was made. 40% paid to the team at $1.55 a mile. I paid for fuel, tols,l and hotels when they had...

    Panther is a scam.

Actually I am doing well at Home Delivery. I have been with them for eight years now. I have four routes and we have been going through changes with the lawsuit forcing them to change. We are now considered independent service providers and we have one big contract. I was able to negociate a...

    Panther is a scam.

Right I know my contract is different from his. We tried for a few weeks to get them to change the rate because my team was making $1.35 and no one wants to lose money. They refused and we proceeded to take the truck back to Panther so I could sell the truck. After they removed the QC and they...

    Panther is a scam.

It's complicated because I was going to lose a lot of money or RI state tax and burn 1000's in fuel to get the vin checked by the state. Base plates are $25 dollars a week and all of a sudden I have two deductions for $200 bucks that say base plates. The truck has been getting worked on for a...

    Panther is a scam.

I was a owner for over two years at Panther and they get you comming in going with fees. Not only do they get big profits off the freight, but they like to make profits off the owners. Example I sold my last truck to a new contractor. They would not give him the rate I got until they removed the...

    Is THis What You Expected

If your in a place like central Florida it's okay to take a load that gets you into a good area at a loss. Other wise your just going to deadhead. We just got a offer at $1.10 a mile pluse .10 cent fuel surcharge and it gets us to Houston, TX.

    Creditcards and Small Business

Before I would use debt settlement I would file chapter 11. Yes this will ruin your credit for seven years, but if it came down to the choice of losing a business or purging debt I would do it in a heart beat. You won't be able to get a new truck loan, but your expenses per month can come way down.

    there's more to the story

I am pretty sure no matter where you were around Christmas and New Years it was pretty slow for a few weeks. Panther boards were full of trucks that went home for the holidays. Many shippers shut down until after new years day. I had trucks in Detroit, Columbus and Sandusky and nothing was...

How are the Big Boys doing?

I own three straight trucks and I am thinking about adding a tractor. I need to know how the big boys solo and team are running. How many miles are you running each week and how many reduced rate runs are offered. If you have a tractor with 53 foot dry van or flatbed you can combine three or...

    Your Company Doesn't Care

geez how much is the OP's truck payment? .97 cents a mile seems very high considering O/O in LTL get about .90 cents a mile plus fuel surcharge and they drive fuel gulping tractors.

lol todays first reduced rate offer

The point being if it's been more then 24 hour since you got a load and the area is full of trucks you have a chance to get a paid move to a better loacation. What happens if you turn down the reduced rate run and you sit another 36 hours. I will take my chances and take the $122 dollars to...

lol todays first reduced rate offer

I guess you can't really micromanage in this economy. What if this load that makes you $122 leads to another load that makes you $500 or $600? Then it would be worth it right?
  13. E

lol todays first reduced rate offer

I should feel good about being with Panther because I have not gotten any load offers that low. I have gotten a few $1.10 offers, but they were long miles with very little deadhead maybe 15 miles. Useally they averaged out because the next few loads would be at full rate $1.55 plus fuel surcharge.

$3000 a week? He's a fool if he leaves now.

Another new driver believes the Hype on expediting.

I have trucks on with FedEx Home Delivery and they have what you call a service account that once a quater if you have at least $500 dollars in the account they will give you $100 dollars of free cash in the account. After three years it goes up to $150 dollars and I think it maxs out at $300...

    Reality Check # ?

How much is it going to cost you if you lose a driver and you have a truck sit for a week or two trying to get drivers into orientation? The class costs about $180 dollars plus hotel room. Not running for two weeks costs $2000 dollars plus a mobile mechanic to get your truck started. The way I...

    Reality Check # ?

Maybe not long-term but for the month of January or Febuary it might be ok. If my trucks don't move within 24 hours I find them a backhaul and the lowest I will take is a dollar per mile. I might only make $100 to $200 bucks above fuel and driver pay, but that is better then nothing. My truck...

    Bankruptcy Thank You

Leave this carrier right now and get a lawyer. I would find myself another carrier A.S.A.P.

    Bankruptcy Thank You

It's not the end of the line for you buddy. Just drive for a fleet owner that helps you get loads when the company does not offer loads. Hopefully you can save your home if you have one.
