Greenville SC a good place to sit or should I move into Charlotte or Atlanta?

Never run cheap to Laredo, or Florida....I agree. However, I have run for a much lesser rate; when it's late Friday afternoon and anything over a certain bid amount didn't work, all day long. It's either run for less on a weekend load, figure your deadhead....or find yourself sitting in that...

    Fla TNPKE

I avoid it altogether. Not sure if that's possible in a ST. Turnpikes are like traps to me, don't like being funneled, anywhere. Not paid the OH 90 pike, since they hit me with the height thing.....19 bucks from Cleveland to Detroit. Florida is interesting in how they do things. Not real...

    sitting in Columbus oh

Sitting for 2 days means little, until one sees a pattern, whereby your always the one sitting, while everyone else is moving out. That being the case, it can begin to make one wonder.....hence the OP's legitimate concern. If the aforementioned keeps occurring, find someone who will run the...

    General Question Regarding Rates

Exactly why I searched, with due diligence, for a high top extended cargo, and drove all the way to NY to get it. Running for a real company now and getting all the miles I need in the cargo. When talkin rates, dimensions, weight, etc.....it matters not a hoot what you have IMV. Get with a...

    General Question Regarding Rates

Hmmm.....methinks it's OK to run the extended as a two skid van. Can't believe the times I've hauled one or two skids in a Sprinter, at cargo height. Matter of fact, don't think I'd miss that many loads at all, while reporting the 100" mark. Companies will often stack the pallets for a...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

Yup. Seems like we've been here before. :p Guess the alternative is to sit around and wait, while one opts for 1.05 per mile. Went one step up from the 5-7000.00 cargo version, and we need to run it. All for keeping rates good for drivers, and don't much appreciate those running for real...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

Think Elliot covered that one. Soon, that door will close as we're nearing the end of those coming on board to offer cheap rates IMHO Don't posses the knowledge you folks do, cause I'm still learning and just purchased my own van. Got a good rate from Progressive out of Ohio. Under no...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

Special rate through a carrier. Got my suspicions on the whole picture though. Took it for now to begin running, but the policy is too bare bones for me, and offers no roadside. Sometimes those "special rates" to be paid out monthly, do not calculate into "good coverage". Bare minimum to me...

Guess that depends what rung you're a standin on. I hear this all the time from people who work for a company that fits them. Try averaging about 300 miles PER WEEK for a whole month? How about 1 load in a three week period? Wanna try a couple weeks with no pay at all? Get this on your balance...

Actually, that named company was my first inquiry. Here's how the timing went; taking on vans one week, bought my van the next, all positions filled after I'd been accepted. Your right, they do run a lot of miles, but so does the company I ended up with, and they are expanding. Drove a...

Hey Hawk. Send me a PM and I'll be happy to reveal....while getting your opinion. Was approved by three companies taking on CV's right now. Liked certain aspects about all of them, and would be happy to just get some miles. Got the van inspected today and dealership in NY honored their promise...

    Ford E350 Unicell Sleeper

Yup, that seems to be the standard. The beauty is, they only require 8 ft.....96" for cargo's. I placed the Etrac at 8 feet, with the remaining living quarter breakdown option for 3 skids at 40". Placed 2 Etrac anchor points right behind both seats. It's not necessarily the skids I'm thinking...

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

Considering maintenance and tax.....what do you suggest for this percent amount? Is it the old 1/3 and 2/3 I keep hearing about. :)

Progressive Insurance goes up again !!!!

2011 Extended GMC was quoted today at 4000.00 per year by Progressive agent, 333.00 per month. No accidents (fault or no fault) for 40 years. One windshield claim, no tickets in 17 years, no offenses at all in that time frame. Better keep shopping, as State Farm will not insure the van for...

Team Needed-Paid on W-2- Good or Bad ?

Just a hunch, having driven team, fresh out of CDL school couple of years ago. Good teams are already established for a lot of companies. Frankly, being so ignorant at the time, it was a benefit for me personally to be on W-2. The new person needs to become mindful of keeping receipts, how it...

Sitting at home in MI. I envy the folks who are up and doing right now. Been here for a week getting the van ready to roll. Been one thing after the other, DOT inspect, insurance, equipment, floor and Etrac etc etc. That's after running to NY area to PU van. Spending money, while not making...

Yup. Going to report 128" (3 skids) but it's actually 135 to back seat. Never want to show up and have to kick my brain back into remain calm mode. ;)

Where do you CV drivers sleep during this polar vortex cold weather?

Had plenty of time off with the latest George Carlin company. It's been a mini nightmare, but that's about to change. Will have this week off to get the van ready for new adventures. Some quick winterizing will be in order, while perhaps a glass of good Red will be in the offing, here at home.

Where do you CV drivers sleep during this polar vortex cold weather?

Think I'm going to use those blankets. Makes good sense, affordable, and have some weight to them. Checking stock options now.....in the event this thread goes viral. :)
