    Isuzu City Trucks

Oh, no doubt. It'll run at 3krpm all day, it'll just get 10mpg doing it. As long as you're doing local type stuff, it'll do fine. OTR, not so much. Ryder generally takes good care of their equipment also.

    Isuzu City Trucks

They're good trucks. A lot of the guys at work swear by them and have put 300k on them with really no issues beyond normal maintenance. Keep them in the city though, as that's what theyre geared for. It doesn't cruise down the highway, it screams.

    Gas Sprinter

Yep, but the diesel (2007+) is the 3.0 found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and E320 Bluetec. It's a sweet little engine- the limited time (500 miles or so) I've been behind the wheel of one has caused me to fall in love.

    Your average load

Well, at the moment I'm in the NE which I've heard is an excellent area to find freight.

    Your average load

Well, for lack of knowing anyone that wants to live in a truck, and being nervous about just hiring someone off the street on, I was planning on most likely going solo.

    Your average load

I can promise you that I won't be buying anything until I talk to somebody there and get the whole scoop.

    Your average load

Likely I'll be going with Fedex CC if anything just due to the fact that all my current experience is with FedEx. As soon as I'm allowed, my plans are to move up to white glove. To that end, I'm thinking a Class 8 D with 22' reefer box and pusher axle might be my best bet, likely just sticking...

    Your average load

Another question: Is investing in a reefer unit worth the money, or are those loads few and far between?

    Your average load

To switch gears a little bit, if you drive a t/t, does your average load fill you up? Or would it fit in your average large (26') straight truck?

    Your average load

I know that most loads are anything but average, but just for the sake of curiosity... This is aimed mostly at straight truck drivers. Do you find that most loads don't even come close to filling the truck, or do you find that you're missing out on loads because you went with too small of a...

    As bad as it seems?

Got me. I just used that for the sake of throwing a rough estimate together.

    As bad as it seems?

The other question I have- does FXCC offer compensation for truck availibility? I know over at FXG contractors get $45/day just for providing a van.

    As bad as it seems?

I'm gonna give this thread a bump. I really have no idea what I would be looking at from the income/expenses side of things. I do know that from the truck side of things I want a class 8, probably with stock sleeper for cost savings with a refrigerated box and live second axle, just for the...

    there goes this years bonus

This legislation isn't so much aimed at the linehaul guys, more at the P&D drivers. It used to be a lot worse, the TM in my terminal was infamous for forcing ICs to paint bumpers and back doors at the slightest sign of wear. He's been reigned in somewhat but he still micromanages more than he...

    As bad as it seems?

    >It is either Subcontractor or Independent Contractor, >regardless what the company tells you, you in actuallity >still do not 100% control your truck Well, as I hinted at before I currently work for FXG, so I know the game. ;)

    As bad as it seems?

Just to clarify, If I do end up deciding to do this it will be for at least a couple years, if not more depending on the way things go.

    As bad as it seems?

No, I do know that fuel prices and slowing economy are having some effect. They're affecting everyone and everything. That's not exactly my question though. What I want to know is whether things are actually as bad as some people are making them seem, or are those people just frustrated in...

    As bad as it seems?

I just stumbled on these forums a few days ago. Right now, I'm a college student working for a certain small package delivery business who shall remain nameless. (Hint: we're not Teamsters ;-) ) Ever since my orientation/training and learning about Custom Critical, I've been intrigued by the...
