    fuel card- advances

I can only put an advance on my fuel card once I'm dispatched a load so I can pay for fuel, but how does that work if I'm driving for a contractor and NOT paying for fuel out of my agreement? The contractor pays for fuel, I do not. But I know my % comes from the total amount (obviously).

How can my contract be valid when they aren't giving me loads?

But that doesn't even make sense? How can anyone expect you go be out here not making any money? This isn't volunteer work... Contracts are for the benefit of both parties, not just the company's benefit at the contractor's expense...

How can my contract be valid when they aren't giving me loads?

I've been sitting since last Tuesday. I haven't made any money for almost a week. I just started with this company almost 3 weeks ago. My first week they had me busy and running, but the second week was nothing but sitting. In a straight truck. I can't be sitting out here making no money.

    Shifting an automatic on hills

I have a 6 speed Allison transmission. It has an option where you can select an UP or DOWN arrow to reduce/increase gear. What is the proper way to use this feature when going up or down hills? I would put it in 3rd gear before going down a hill, but it didn't seem to stop me from accelerating...

Alternatives to Work Accident Insurance thru company

Is Work Accident insurance the same as Worker's Comp? I can either purchase it weekly through my company or get it from somewhere else of my own choosing. About how much is a good rate per week/month? Who do you have your insurance through?

Rental fee as driver for fleet owner/company?

What can I expect as a subcontractor? & questions

I've read the FAQs, but I still don't have a good understanding of what to expect as a driver for a fleet owner in a straight truck. There are thousands of posts, a lot of which are really old, and it's hard to put it all together. Can anyone link me to anyone's firsthand experience/blogs in...

    Paying taxes as a subcontractor?

I will be driving for a fleet owner as a subcontractor. I understand I will not be listed as an "employee," therefore I will have to take out my own taxes. How does all that work? Are there quarterly payments, how do you know how much to reserve for tax time, etc..?! Thanks in advance.

Rental fee as driver for fleet owner/company?

They basically said it was "a rental fee for the truck." I'll ask them what it rly is. But typically what other expenses should a driver have each week, not including fuel? I understand there's a weekly insurance expense that comes out. No Qualcomm fees here. But what else ya think?

Rental fee as driver for fleet owner/company?

I'm considering driving a straight truck for a fleet owner, possibly a company owned truck. They advised me there is a $25/week rental fee. What is that all about?

making the decision to go for it

what does them being Muslim have to do with anything? and IMO your husband shouldn't have to keep driving just to "keep his resume and experience current." Trucking companies don't care about that, and they certainly don't ask for your résumé. If he has at least a few years otr experience...

    What's fair and equitable

Ahh, gotcha. I guess it would be way different if like you were their only driver. Also I agree with whoever said the daily rate would need to be paid every day, including deadheading or relocating to a better area.
