Ford is conducting nationwide test drives for all potential (large) Transit buyers

Re: Ford is conducting nationwide test drives for all potential (large) Transit buyer Ford's really going agressive with their marketing/advertising for the Transit, the tours, the tie in with "American Pickers" on the show and the commercials, and the the associated contest for a free lease...

    Ram's new cargo van...

So I see there's now inventory on dealer lots, not any dealer close to where I live, mostly because there's not a Dodge dealer in close by to begin with. Any one actually spotted one, test driven one, etc?

    Spotted Fiat Ducato

So I'm coming out of the Walgreen's in Goleta, CA, and spot a "different" looking CV, not quite a Sprinter, but same shape. Closer inspection I see the red "FIAT" badge, "Ducato" on the side and back. And a "for sale" sign on the windshield. Driver and passenger, driver had just started it...

Road Closure in St Louis MO

I don't think they'll ever finish that interchange, nor ever be not doing construction on I-64. When I was doing courier work, (up until last month, when the career took an interesting turn) I had to go through that mess, plus the two construction zones on the St. Louis side of i-64 at least 4...

    Ryder used Sprinters

Seems high for that year and those miles. You were right on sticking at 18K. If under 200K miles maybe 21K.

OMG I shoulda slept in the van!

Haven't had the pleasure of staying in any thing real cruddy during this career, but in a previous career had some doozey's. Was making frequent trip to Puerto Rico, usually stayed in the Marriott at the former Ramey Air Force Base in Aguadilla. Unfortunately, this trip the Marriott was booked...

    Ram's new cargo van...

That grey stuff on the wall over there is my head what just exploded. ;) Or if you're into the small city van market, a Japanese van re-badged as an American Brand Nissan NV200 puts on a Bowtie as new Chevy City Express - Autoblog Hints of things to come for the General?

    Van Insurance

Because if you just have a normal auto policy, even at 100/300/100 and you have an accident while working or hauling freight, the insurance company will pay squat!

    Ram's new cargo van...

So apparently they've started production on the Promaster in Mexico this week, about 3-4 days ago as of this writing. Hoping to at least see them in the dealer's soon to take a good look close up.

    Cruise control install

If you're through the St Louis area give Auto Air Co on S. Kingshighway a call, they've been in business since I can remember, at least 50 years or so installing aftermarket air cons cruise controls and such. Quoted me $399 I think to add one to my 1999 GMC Van. Thinking of upgrading to a...

    July locations, drama and weather.

Waiting at a shipper for a part to be welded up so I can take it to get heat treated. Supposed to wait there about 4 hours, then bring it back. Getting paid detention pay on top of the miles. Good finish to a mediocre week.

What's with the bad GM Van white paint jobs?

I've pretty much ascertained that if I get any more peeling of the paint job on my van, it's going to be because of bird strikes. Hit two in the last week. One today as dead center on the windshield, no damage to the windshield itself, but a bit of a gooey mess.

What's with the bad GM Van white paint jobs?

Anybody old enough to remember "beetle boards?" If you had a VW Beetle you could rent it out as advertising space, the company would paint it up as a billboard, and when the term was done they'd re paint it back. Wonder if anyone does that with cargo vans these days. Really, I drive about...

What's with the bad GM Van white paint jobs?

Ouch, that hurt. Mine was an ex U-Haul from what I was able to find on its pedigree. Thinking of having it painted Schneider Orange. Getting tired of the white/primer/galvanized/rust color scheme. :-)

What's with the bad GM Van white paint jobs?

Ok, my van's almost 14 years old, so I expect paint issues and rust. But I see a TON of younger GM vans with bare metal spots where the white paint should be. And quite a few pick up trucks. Did they ever figure out what they did wrong? If so what year did they start getting the paint job...

    local routes

Sounds like courier work, which I'm doing right now, GMC 2500 cargo van. Courier work should always be per stop pay basis, or a percentage of freight, plus FSC. Right now I'm doing a combination of the two, half day is doing a delivery route, flat $15 per stop, rest is X percent of freight...
