    Business Help

Thank you for the feedback. Your post is a real eye opener and our dilemma certainly warrants a more prudent approach. If circumstances were different for us we would hope to be in a better position to hang on to the truck and cash it out. I suspect all fleet owners run into this predatory type...

Thank you for the notices when you send me a PM. You don't really need to post that you've sent a PM. I'm checking it frequently. :) :)

    Business Help

Well, we've never been in a situation like this but here are some initial thoughts. Speaking for myself, a seller might be more comfortable staying with their carrier because of familiarty and a current relationship. By letting the truck go to another carrier the seller might not be as...

    Business Help

Because of a family illness we have to leave the business. Our dilemma is selling the truck. It's a 2006 leased to a carrier. This post is not intended to advertize the truck although I know it could be construed that way. We are finding that our truck seems fairly priced for it's flags...

    Taking a break

Lin was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we are going to leave the business until she recovers. It is not operable at this time but it may be after some chemotherapy. We've got lots of prayer buddies out there but could always use more. For ourselves, EO was like an expediters...

    Quebec City Truck Stop(s)

I saw that website too. Will probably check out the Garmin suggestion below but wanted to get some feedback from anyone who's been there in the past and had good experience with a particular location. So far we've got Petro Pass Vanier, 500 rue du, Marais, Quebec City.

If you pay for a prescription,

Costco ***. I'm cutting back on junk food and sugar but there are no rules at Costco and last time they were serving pumpkin pie bites with whip cream! Wow! What a score.

    Quebec City Truck Stop(s)

We know there's at least one but can't recall what it is or where (new garmin, few favorites). Any help would be appreciated. Google is not a lot of help but if you know some Google secret then feel free to post that as well!

How Goes the New 34-Hour Restart for You?

Responding to original post...we're not getting used to it. We recently accepted a load that required us to have one driver sit up front. It was a weekend load. The initial plan was a weekend at a safe haven (sister company location). The safe haven would remove the restriction of having a...

Those of you that have 05-06 engines. What are your plans for California next year?

Re: Those of you that have 05-06 engines. What are your plans for California next yea I've heard $16K for a retrofit. Anyone else looked into this?

Those of you that have 05-06 engines. What are your plans for California next year?

Re: Those of you that have 05-06 engines. What are your plans for California next yea I called Detroit Diesel regarding our 05 Mercedes (MBE 4000) engine and was told it was designed to meet the 2014 rule. Anyone else confirm this or have more accurate information? It's tough tracking down...

Bordentown to JFK - Best Route(s) for Straight Truck

Thank you for all your help. If you take a google map and drag routes around from Bordentown to JFK the times are all about the same. Thanks also for the clarification about the two bridge tolls. I had not caught that from an outside forum post.

Bordentown to JFK - Best Route(s) for Straight Truck

By the way, thank you all for your feedback and the links. If anyone else can weigh in please do. Based on what I've read, there is still a question of 278 with a 13'6". I'm pretty sure the posts above confirm it's okay but again, I don't want to find out the hard way. And as I posted above...

Bordentown to JFK - Best Route(s) for Straight Truck

One of the reasons for taking 278 to jfk is to avoid the toll on the GW going into NY. My understanding is that there is no toll on 278 going in and no toll on GW coming out. Less clams for more fish. Those tolls can add up.

    Paullud...is / was your TT 13'6"?

Bordentown to JFK - Best Route(s) for Straight Truck

I did not state the question very well at all. My GPS is routing me via GW because it believes there is a truck restriction on 278. What I really want to know is if there are any truck restrictions anywhere on 278 between 95 (NJ) and 495 (NY). But maybe what I should be asking is, what would...

Garmin questions / issues 465, new maps are screwy as hell

So I download the most recent Garmin update (2013) before running over to JFK from Bordentown and Garmin wanted to cross the GW and go North, circle around Yonkers, then return South and hit Whitestone and Van Wyck. 90 minutes just turned into 2.5 hours? damm! I just decided to hell with...

Bordentown to JFK - Best Route(s) for Straight Truck

It doesn't have to be Bordentown but that's generally the starting point. By all appearances it looks possible by taking the Verrazano bridge to NY, then north on 278 up to 495. Then 495 to 678 (Van Wyck) which basically drops right into the cargo areas. Problem is, the Garmin says no way to...
