    Bolt!

Bolt seems to pay its vendor/partners like clockwork as well, which is more than I could ever say for All State or Nations.

OH no what will we do?

I don't think I'm alone in saying that I don't understand this post at all. JB Hunt is out of business? What does JB Hunt have to do with us if they did go belly up? Too much medication? Too little?

    LTL Truck Rates Deteriorating

YRC will indeed affect expedite, especially if your company ever hauls loads for Exact Express. The work won't go away though. It will just get absorbed by another 3PL.

    Truck Friendly Wal-mart

I've only had one incident with Wally. In Greer, SC, the the overnight "bus patrol" informed me that Walmart had a corporate no-idle policy. It was a sticky summer night and I had let my truck run as I went inside to shop. Unfortunately, my shih-tzu pup cannot shop with us, so I was...

    Winter strom

I dropped in Manassas area yesterday around noon and decided to bug out for the Carolinas. Still got caught in Warfield, VA and decided I'd rather fight the snow with daylight than the blackness of night. Picked up in Raleigh this morning for a Monday drop in BHM. Glad I didn't stay.

Memphis, where to go where not

If near the airport, there is also a Love's just west of it. Two Pilots side by side a couple miles north of Love's. I dropped by the airport, ended up at the twin Pilots, and loaded out of the same zip code. :)

    Stupid things drivers believe.

Ya know x06col, I might just bring on a truck or two after the New Year. But no clowns please. :D

    Another Roadside Attraction

We don't know who they were.....or what they were doing....but their legacy remains! Carhenge! Where the demons dwell, Where the banshees live and they do live well. Carhenge! Where a man's a man, And the children dance to the Pipes of Pan.

    Stupid things drivers believe.

Actually, there has been a time when that was true. Last December, there were straight truck loads being booked by carriers at the O/O base rate ($1.20). Carrier rates for their own shippers dropped from about 2.40-2.50, incl. fsc, down to about $1.50, incl. fsc, just trying to book the load...

    question

Yeah. I sure wouldn't stir a legal hornet's nest unless I knew without a doubt my case would stand. Better make sure an attorney is willing to stand with you through it all before you begin. It might come back to bite them in the rear.

I am interested in a load board for expedited freight

Re: I am interested in a hot load board for expedited freight Do you think that if someone had access to one, they would give you an edge and tell you? If you are a leased O/O, you best bet is to find a carrier whom you can trust to tell you where to be. The rules are changing, so what you...

    question

That is, if they actually have a case. Court is only good if you have a case. If they only drove for two weeks, it sounds like there are greater issues. If they spent $1400, but they ditched the truck 800 miles from the owner, then you most likely have no case. People generally profess no...

    Stupid things drivers believe.

Stupid things drivers believe? 1. There's no freight out of Florida 2. There's no freight out of California 3. There's no freight out of Jersey, 4. If there is any loads out of the above areas, it's all cheap rates. 5. My carrier doesn't do much liftgate or blanket work, so I don't need them...

    Detention Time

OVM, As a carrier, I like your idea of how to handle detention. As with any contract business, we have some customers who are handled one way and some another, as to billing. I had one customer TELL me to start charging detention after 15 minutes, which to me makes sense for vans especially...

    Detention Time

I must agree with Piper. Unless there are adverse circumstances by which your carrier pulls the plug, once you commit, you are FIRMLY committed. Now, if you are not able to complete it as HOS allows and a swap is required, then such is life. Normally, I would inform my customer of the issue...

Is there any disability people that do this job?

I must agree on the age thing. It might be a bigger disability than the hearing thing. Insurance wise, you will have a tough time going with a carrier until you are 23, and in some places 25 years old.

    Is the Frieght Picking Up?

Not only does it pickup and drop off, but sometimes you have an extra stop that picks up or drops off as well. :)
