    Interesting load cancellation

Charles, did you ever get anyone at Panther to tell you why they never contacted you that they had pulled the load off of you and now don't want to pay up?

Who takes an instrument on the road?

Get some amplified headphones to go with it and you're good to go!

    Any Company that run

There are companies that run you up and back, or at least in a loop. Some companies have a strong local/regional customer base, That's generally how I run my own truck for my company, due to the fact that our rate structure didn't collapse during this recession the way most of the "big dogs"...

    Advice on a 2003 Sprinter....

One of the nice things about a slightly older one is that parts are much more accessible for the high mileage issues we face. More people are needing those kind of repairs for their Sprinter by this point, so more are available.

Whats the longest you've ever sat?? And where was it???

Funny thing is, I actually have sympathy on this guy for the Laredo thing. On best accounts, Laredo has been hopping for the last few months. However, I have heard more than this abysmal account of central and south Texas in the last two weeks. Carriers who are used to moving trucks fast are...

Obviously freight rules aren't for everyone!

I'm sure there was a reason why they were starting after dark, such as some states scales are closed after dark. Pickup truck or not, a GCWR above 26000 is still required to have a CDL class A. When you see someone oblivious to load securement or truck handling, it's generally a good indicator...

    They finally wised up

It is possible. Here is another scenario: For those who don't know on here, Fedex has been using the NLM system to post and dispatch their outsourced runs. Perhaps NLM is getting the boot. The Alliance software is top notch. GPS will even integrate it with your current dispatching...

    They finally wised up

Blizzard, Just because they are on the Alliance, doesn't mean any more people will be bidding. There are lots of loads that go through the Alliance system that only some carriers see, or get a call on a truck. Some that comes to mind immediately are Ceva, UPS, and some Landstar agents.

    They finally wised up

Yeah, I saw that. . Oh course Tri-State has been a member since the beginning, but mainly use it to search for trucks already approved in their system. Not sure how the Fed will use the system. Just realized that Charles stole my thunder. :)

Cargo Vans Who Run For More Than One Carrier: An Editorial

It's amazing that in every other area of economics, it's well known that in almost every case, it's the big corporate conglomerates that come and attempt to force out the "mom and pops" by slashing rates. Can someone say "Wal-Mart?" Bank of America tried to kill every small, regional bank in...

Cargo Vans Who Run For More Than One Carrier: An Editorial

Sorry Lawrence. While I appreciate your loyalty to "big boys", as I know they fund your pocket here, I believe your info to be traditional to truckstop gossip, and not necessarily factual. First of all, every large carrier (a very relative term) started out by being a smaller one. Even...

Cargo Vans Who Run For More Than One Carrier: An Editorial

I was always under the impression that by the very nature of the term "lease", it meant you had exclusive control over whatever was leased. Let's say you lease a Mercedes for your wife to drive. According to the lease agreement, that equipment (the car), should remain in your sole control for...

Cargo Vans Who Run For More Than One Carrier: An Editorial

Recently there have been a few discussions on here about a few encounters with cargo van and sprinter owner operators allowing more than one carrier to “lease” their services. I believe that the thinking behind this is that two carriers would mean twice as many opportunities. Some even claim...

    How many in Michigan?

Well, I'm not in Michigan, but one of my owner ops was until today. We got him out.

    Bolt!

Are you an O/O with All State? My info is all first-hand, baby! No hearsay. They are currently running past 2 month cycles, and they don't answer or return phone calls or emails in accounts payable.. As for nations, we wrote them off last year when they exceeded 100 days to pay. There are...

Please tell me what y'all think about C & M

Might as well tell em. Not a lot of people want that kind of responsibility. It's the "mommy culture."

Please tell me what y'all think about C & M

Warning: They will not babysit you. From what I hear, they will not advance you 50% when you accept the load like some do, and they probably won't pay you extra to relocate to some predetermined "express center", just so you can sit with 8 other vehicles sportin' the very same logo, just in...
