Cops are not heroes, but thugs

Those who don't ever get to see the LEO's side of things might enjoy reading the Facebook posts of Chief Oliver of the Brimfield, Oh, PD. He is quite popular, both for his plain spoken ways, [the stupidity of "mopes" drives him nuts] and for his habit of rewarding good behavior: he 'tickets'...

Did they think about this Scenario?

I've never sulked or pouted about logging - I don't enjoy it, but understand it has a reason. The EOBRs, however, are going to create more problems than they could possibly solve, at least until there is parking wherever it's needed, and customers address the delay issues that waste our...

New to expediting. Got a big question before i start.

That's not a problem with drivers paying for fuel, that's a problem with an owner who doesn't want to pay for what the truck needs, when it needs it. Good fleet owners are careful, not penny wise & pound foolish.

Our first month out with Fed Ex

That really sucks! I think we should keep a sticky or running thread where drivers can post locations where they've been ticketed - it would at least keep others from incurring the same fate. On that note, if you deliver to Ford Brook Park, don't park at the big retail lot at the corner of Snow...

New to expediting. Got a big question before i start.

I have always believed that the driver should pay for fuel, because the driver is in total control of the consumption. Also, it forces the driver to consider things like fuel efficiency, DH, out of route miles, and going home, more carefully than they might otherwise. And those are all things...

DONT Leave anything mounted in your dash....

Thanks, Boss - I'll call Matt tomorrow & ask him to send the update. One more question: when it was first installed, and Matt showed me how it works, I asked if it would reroute from the current position, [like when forced to detour]. He said it would, but the one time I tried it, it didn't...

A Man of God Stands His Ground Against the Government

Bravo to Father Nathan Monk for doing it exactly right, and to Councilwoman Sherri Myers and Councilman John Jerrolds for defending his right to do so. I hope the citizens mount a recall petition to rid themselves of the Council President Sam Hall, a petty tyrant of the lowest form.

DONT Leave anything mounted in your dash....

Now that I have a smart phone, I guess Google is an option - before, I'd have to unpack the laptop & crank it up, and there's seldom time for that before takeoff. I still think the zip code should be included - it's not a complete address without it anymore. It's ok if the nav system doesn't...

    HOS And Cargo Vans

If those 2 or 3 skids weigh north of 3000 lbs, or are too big to fit, or are picked up and/or delivered to a dock that can't [or won't] handle less than dock high vehicles, it still has to go on a truck. The weight could probably be divided among 2 [or more] vans, but the other loads cannot. My...

DONT Leave anything mounted in your dash....

My question on the navigation feature is how a solo driver can use it while driving? I can't, so I haven't really used it at all. Workflow is pretty good - except we really, really, really need the zip codes on the addresses - really! Today I was presented with 3 possible locations when the GPS...

    Great quotes - great reads.

Cheesy? Not at all, it's the plain truth: it's easy to criticize the efforts of another, particularly if you know your own efforts can't be criticized in return, because you didn't make any. My own favorite quote is Mark Twain: "Man is the only animal that blushes - or needs to." ;)

I couldn't have said it better myself - and I didn't, but it is pretty much what I tried to say. Only I thought the OP would come to the same conclusion on his own, after doing the work involved to reach that conclusion. The first question, "What carrier would you recommend?" is a dead giveaway...

Running up to Lodi Metals . . .

Yes, What Leo said. They don't take the place of heavy load bars, but are a good addition to the mix, being lighter and thinner. And more flexible, because they can be angled, or even placed top to bottom. The colors may seem frivolous, but I hit all my load bars with a dash of blue spray, so I...

Running up to Lodi Metals . . .

Excellent thread, and the photos really help. One bit of equipment that I've found to increase versatility of loadbars & straps is called a logistics sleeve: an open square that slides over the load bar, with Etrack slots on each side. It allows you to secure straps to load bars, and even create...

    New Fleet Owner

Dadacro: please forgive my attempt at explaining why, out of 10,000 members, 9,999 had no response to your questions. I thought it better to try to explain the lack of response than simply ignore you. [In my book, ignoring people is rude.] The questions you asked are simply impossible to answer...
