    $1.40 per mile?

This was in reference to the Caffee's post. The Phil madness came after.

    percentages

Quite frankly I'm not sure. We don't pay any attention to it so it is hard to say. I couldn't tell you now what percentages we actually show. On time and safety are the only ones I look at.

    Truck is acting retarded

Could be a couple of those issues but I would also check the exhaust brake if it has one. That little engine likely doesn't have a actual "engine brake". It is a PAC brake. Sometimes the fuse can blow, bad solenoid (easy test) or the butterfly in the exhaust is rusted and isn't fully open...

    percentages

Might be a issue with vans, but we don't even pay attention to that. BTW, NJ is an excellent board. WIth how they dispatch, truck size, rate, qualifications, team or single, and who is closest to the freight gets the load. Board position has no value.

    who's happy

Been gone for the holidays and after reading a few of these threads that happened over the weekend, I can tell who isn't happy. Good grief.

    $1.40 per mile?

Let me make a few clarifications. The 1.40 was in reference to a straight truck load, not a 12 footer. My concern wasn't whether someone would run it under certain conditions, but that it was classified as a "good load". Would we run it? Maybe. Again, under certain conditions. But I would NOT...

    Chicago area attorney

OOIDA use to have a list of transportation attorneys. Might give that a shot.

    Slick Rick...

He may wind up being a better pick for republicans as he has a fairly decent record that is current. Especially on the job creation front. Texas and a few other states pretty much make up all the recent job creation in the country.

The Sinking Of The Titantic - FDCC

Rates are on the rise for certain types of freight, but as we know, that is much different than whether it is passed on to the actual operator. Lot of drivers are struggling but carrier profits have actually been pretty good.

What is the size of the time critical "road" freight market?

I think you are giving some way too much information to digest.:D

    Phil made the jump

Seems to be the reoccurring theme when folks leave there as of late. You are right Steve, there are a lot of opportunities once one starts to look around a little.

    Does make one wonder.

The Sinking Of The Titantic - FDCC

I don't doubt that for a minute. From the reliability stand point, the older trucks in our fleet are more durable than the new. Most of that is attributed to the DPF regen systems. Total waste of money. Starting to make a lot more sense going to rebuilds or gliders.

The Sinking Of The Titantic - FDCC

I can't speak for Mayfield but we do average at that number or higher with our dry vans. We may not be the typical operator at Panther, as we do things a little different, but those are the numbers. We provided our fleet numbers collectively and by the truck at several of the EO workshops were...

    Re: Going Broke

That is probably true. The rates currently are about the same as they were ten years ago. This is even recognized by the industry at large and why (or at least in part) you see them going to flat rate tractors. Look how many dealers stock reefer straight trucks now. Virtually none. That isn't by...

    About Leaving FedEx Custom Critical

I guess throwing you out the door early wasn't one of those purple promises. You are right though, there are quite a few on the hunt for a better gig. Have received several emails again this week on just the subject.

    Phil made the jump

You would have a better feel for that since you are there. I am basing my thinking on some that are there (granted with larger trucks) and the loads I broker from them.
