If they are offering .42 cents a mile for van freight, they ARE creating the 'market force" for cheap freight. At those rates they shouldn't be charging a fee for anything.

If it is factual that they even offered a load at .42 a mile, I think that pretty much answers any other question one could think of to ask.

Many of the small carriers are struggling because they are reliant on the larger ones for their overflow. When that doesn't happen, slow pay, gameplaying and a host of other issues start up.

Cummins would get the nod if it is 07 or before. Anything after that because of the regen would be a huge question mark.

I would leave that option. Runs much faster and easy to use.

That would be the answer I see. Many of the small one truck operators bid loads extremely cheap. I am amazed at how cheap sometimes. Supply and demand. Many shippers will give the bargain loads to those operators in order to save some cash.

I believe that might put them out of business, but certainly a good suggestion. As to calling select carriers "game players", I believe Turtle articulated my position quite accurately. :)

I was giving my opinion based on ANY carrier engaging in certain practices. I am responding to what others have posted. I don't have to be with the carrier to make that type of assessment.

I would agree. The excuse of delayed pay because a broker/shipper doesn't pay for 60/90 days is foolish. As a fleet owner, this would be the same as stalling the drivers pay 30 days or more because I have a truck repair. If I can't afford to fix my trucks, I shouldn't be in business. One has...

And that right there is the problem as posted. As for the carrier waiting to get paid 60-90 days, the carrier takes that on if he is going to do business with slow payers. The good news is there are only a few carriers that engage in this practice. You don't see a bunch of carriers here...

That I don't disagree with. It does take some doings to get everything in place. I think you put the cart before horse. One needs to have all of their financial vehicles in place PRIOR to accepting any owner operators/contractors. If it were me and you now have the problem, I would halt any...
