First Published Book On Expeditingm Now Available, www.hotshotchronicles.com

Many years ago I co-authored The Spicer Big Road Truck Stop And Restaurant Review with Roger "Top Dog" Hanson. This book critiqued most major restaurants and truck stops along I-94/I-90, between St. Paul, MN and Mauston, WI. The inspiration for the title came from the Spicer 7 speed...

    what is psp

PSP: Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Most carriers won't lease with you if you show positive for PSP. If that's the case then cite the ADA, unless you have ADHD. If you have ADHD you may need someone to contact people in charge of the ADA or perhaps CHADD. If you have VD and are a veteran...

    Things You Need to Ask

Thanks John. While I did take a shot at recruiters, I was also poking fun at the people who want to enter this business with a cargo van and expect to make boat loads of money.

Another Obumma backed green energy plant bancrupt!

I agree, the Republicans gave us the Department of Homeland Security while railing about the evils of big government. As for trampling on capitolism (sic), I assume you meant capitalism. I guess TARP, started by Bush is a good example. If you intentionally typed capitolism, you may have just...

    Nissan Van Operators???

That's the nature of cruise control. I always turn mine off when running hilly country or mountains and often engage the tow/haul mode to prevent unwanted down shifting and to keep it in a lower gear going down hill. The tow/haul mode is also nice to use in slippery conditions when my road...

    Gas Cost vs Rates

I believe you Dennis! I was thinking more of the next new niche market. In the past few years, from what I've seen, O.D. wind farm stuff and North Dakota oilfield stuff is all the rage and high paying. I have noticed that some of the bigger carriers like Anderson Trucking Service (ATS) are...

    Gas Cost vs Rates

I hope your use of deserve was just a poor choice of words because you don't deserve any more than the market is willing to pay. Trucking has always been about more miles, more hours, more weight and higher speed limits and low pay; with the exception of temporary niche markets, like...

Love the sound of an air starter but they were a pain in the butt in Minnesota in the winter.

That's why carriers enact fuel surcharges. A fuel surcharge can be adjusted weekly to reflect any change in the price of fuel.

    Length of straight trucks

Thank you Rocketman for your explanation! I don't know why Amonger introduced axles into the original question about cab length. I don't understand the reasoning behind a 3 axle straight truck being allowed an extra 5 feet of length over a 2 axle truck. It could be a specific state's law...

    I found it! Good Jerky!

This guy looks like a great spokesman for a healthy snack food. Why is he sitting down and seems to be out out breath after speaking only a couple of sentences? He looks like the poster child for a Readers Digest article titled: I'm Joe's Stroke. Sodium deficiency, I don't think so! Every...

There are also varying degrees of unhealthiness to cigarettes as I pointed with my post comparing the Virginia Slim Ultra Lights to Camels and Lucky Strikes if one is concerned with tar and nicotine quantities. There are degrees of unhealthiness when comparing light beer or light anything to...

In the specs it should list the BBC. Like I said the most common BBC is 120". 128 to 132 or so for long noses. 112" BBC is common for day cabs used in LTL. These would have a doghouse protruding into the cab. What or why are you interested in the BBC dimension?
