    QC and the Cold

Wanna mess with dispatch? When they send you a message, answer it using the QC of the van next to you.

    When will buisness pick up?

For the month of January I had 8693 loaded miles. That's an average of 2173 per week. A little slow, as I usually average right at 2500 miles a week. Then again, I was out of service until Jan 8 and was only in-service for 24 days. Over 24 days, that comes out to 2535 per 7 days. A lot of it...

Visteon to close Connersville, IN plant Sept 1

Buy American? Are there any cars that are American made anymore? I've taken a lot of parts from the Mexican border to Ford, Toyota, Honda. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to use the Internet and he won't bother you for weeks.

    LA Layover

I have a friend with a house on the beach in Malibu. That's where I stay when I'm out there. :)

    heating & ac for sprinters

Don't know why I never thought of it until now, but a call to a couple of upholsterers might not be a bad idea. They'll re-upholster the ceiling of a can or van pretty cheap, and they might have access to or have some ideas on what can be used up there.

    Rolling Hills and Passing

If I'm ever in the hammer lane for an extended period, it's usually because the other lane is too bump and lumpy.

"...in a post that short you must have left something out; I just can't figure out what it is yet." Solar panels. hehe It's the mindset of alternative energy and living off the grid. People in remote areas of the desert southwest or the mountains live off the grid using alternative energy -...

    Sprinter Cargo Securement

    >Ken, > >Question - is that your van in the pic ? No E-Track on the >floor ? Not. Not my van. See my followup under Moot's. That's just a pic from inlad.com that shows how to secure the e-track to the walls. It's just a pic that came in handy when I was installing my e-track. > >I assume...

    whos got good diesel?

I use Power Service when they are out of the Howes Diesel Treat, otherwise I'm a Howes guy. Power Service costs more per gallon of fuel, and it doesn't quiet the engine nor get me the increased fuel mileage that Diesel Treat does. I use Meaner Power Cleaner in every tank, as well.

    Sprinter Cargo Securement

That pic's not my van, BTW. It's blatantly stolen from US Upfitters, the Inlad people at inlad.com. But it gave me the idea of how to mount mine in here. I like the 2x6 thing with the e-track on it. Gonna do that. I need to take some updated pics of the van and post them here. I have 1-foot...

    Rolling Hills and Passing

I'm in a van so it's a little easier, but depending on traffic, I'll just sit out there in the hammer lane, cruise control set, and let the big trucks pass and fall behind me on the right as they see fit. I do that mainly to keep the big trucks from having to mess with changing lanes in order to...

    What would you have done?

I would have prepared my van to leave, and just before I left I would have calmly walked to the front of his van and emptied out a full Gatorade bottle, not full of Gatorade, onto his windshield. hehe Actually, I'd have called the company he was leased to and complained.

    Sprinter Cargo Securement

You'll find that for most loads, a single wooden 2x4 or 2x6 load bar across the floor, set inside of those 2x4 e-track fittings, will secure things just fine. Depending on the load, anything high or top heavy, next up is the e-track straps crossed over in the X configuration. I've never used...

    heating & ac for sprinters

Yeah, the Sprintergen people pulled back from the Sprinter application and have moved strictly to watercraft applications. There is a Kubota 2.5KW generator (which is essentially what the Sprintergen was supposed to be) that's small enough to go into a Sprinter, but there are drawbacks to using...

    WI-FI internet?

Greg, yer preachin' to the choir here. Back in the mid and late 70's I was in a band that cut three albums, all with Epic Records. About a year before the performance copyright was about to expire Sony Music bought out Epic Records and the copyright clock started all over again. Then, Sonny Bono...

    One of my dumb moves

Pet peeve is right. Clean windows are one of mine. Never use dish washing liquid, anything with ammonia or alcohol. Either Stoner's Invisible Glass or Sprayway Glass Cleaner (SWP50) and you'll never use the blue stuff again. I buy Sprayway by the case. Sprayway can also be found at Safelite...

    Fuel tax for vans

I have a Frequent Fueler Card, but it's the old one, the standalone one, not the one that's also a debit card. I need to get a Fleet One card, tho.

    WI-FI internet?

One thing to keep in mind when stealing free WiFi access, especially from near an apartment building, is that it's known as [/b]Unauthorized Access To A Computer Network[/b] and is a Class C (or third-degree) felony. If you do anything else illegal while online it'll get bumped up to a Class B...

    Fuel tax for vans

Anyone know how the truck stops can get away with selling fuel at different cash prices and credit card prices? The other day I bought a soft drink at the Flying J, and when it was rung up and the clerk told me the price, I asked if that was the cash or the credit price. She told me it was the...
