    newscast on trucking jobs

There is an implied message here . "Carriers are being picky so train at Driving Solutions to impress the carriers . " Why does the report mention the $30,000 pay with only 3 weeks training then go on to mention CDL requirements ? Admittedly they give more facts than other reporters but they may...

    newscast on trucking jobs

Reporters like this irritate me to no end . I'd like to see trucking school graduates that can't find jobs tar and feather these reporters and run them out of town . The only thing "flourishing" in the industry is trucking schools exploiting desperate people with false promises .

    $52,000 a year driving an E unit ?

The newsy stuff is only a small percentage . A large percentage of fantasies , BS , and misinformation . A lot of good people trying to enlighten the misinformed though . They don't allow links to other forums . I've gotten a pm from admin advising me to refrain from suggesting people inquiring...

Introduction and in need of help

Saturnista , your situation is far from unique . It's a very common problem . Many carriers send drivers home from orientation to wait for a truck or trainer . This is widely discussed on trucking forums and it is unfortunate you didn't read those posts before making this commitment . Your...

    $52,000 a year driving an E unit ?

It may not be impossible but even at 60% the truck would have to gross over $300,000 . He didn't give much info . The thing is he's fresh out of tractor trailer school . He's not the first one I've heard of a fleet owner hiring with a fresh CDL . Maybe they figure somebody green will adapt...

    Uhaul Rate Comparison

The desperate will soon be invading the expedite sector . They are all over other trucking forums . They lose jobs in other careers and go to CDL school planning on a trucking career . Some will take any job at any pay . One forum member put it right . They figure a truck sleeper is more...

    $52,000 a year driving an E unit ?

A member of another forum that is right out of CDL school claims "FedEx Critical" called him to drive one of their tractors for $52,000 a year . I'm a little doubtful .

    ON and QC speed limiter

Your reply will be something like this "Dear termite289 , the OTA wishes to thank you for deciding to not haul freight into Canada . Our member carriers will be happy to increase our revenue picking up this freight . The Speed Limiter Bill is serving its purpose "

    car hauling capital?

I would not do a 4 car with an F-350 . You should upgrade to a medium duty truck for that . Dually's with wedges are favorite targets for D.O.T. . You do NOT need motel receipts . Nothing in FMCSA HOS regulations say you must even rest when logged off duty . You must only be relieved of all...

    Prostate cancer awareness

Yeah , before the PCP referred me to the urologist he did a digital . Then of course the urologist had to have his own "opinion". But that was nothing compared to the biopsy . The urologist gave me the choice of having one in the hospital under anesthesia or at his office and he'd give make a...

    Prostate cancer awareness

The procedure HIFU costs $25,000 if not covered by insurance . It will be done for no cost if you can participate in clinical trials . I was surprised at the level of treatment available to me but I guess insurance companies its most economical to cover a quick , complete cure rather than...

    Prostate cancer awareness

I waited because I opted for robotic surgery . There are a limited number of surgeons with equipment to do it . The more experience a surgeon has the better chance of successful surgery with minimal side effects . It is recommended to find a surgeon that does this surgery at least once a week ...

    Prostate cancer awareness

Are any of you familiar with Clark Howard , the consumer advocate with a radio show , HLN segment and Clark Howard.com website ? Last week he announced he has prostate cancer . He has been watching his PSA levels for a couple of years . I listened to his radio show . He is asking listeners not...

    ExpeditersOnline.com I have an idea

I think having a "Good Times" forum and seeing no threads posted in it would just produce more gloom . Want to really decrease the number of posts ? Title it " Good Times On Duty Driving "

    new guy here

A lot of you are out of touch with the OTR industry . Things have changed . Just this morning I read a post by a driver that left another career and took Schneider training . He has been getting less than 1500 miles a week . His training obligates him to work for them a year or compensate them...

Looking for info on hauling cars

Thanks for clarifying that for me , nightcreacher . The 450 dually threw me off . Just about all those setups are O/O and I really doubt there would be adequate revenue in a 4-6 car setup to provide a sufficient profit for a driver and owner .

    Hotshot work

I think paying your own meals would be a good idea because you could claim per diem but that may be the reason he is paying the hotel and meals . It also benefits him to pay per diem . He does not have to contribute to your social security on amounts paid on expenses . He would have to pay...

    Hotshot work

Much more info is needed here . Is it true hoshot (time sensitive ) or just a dually with a gooseneck . True hotshot rates are over $2 a mile . On the 500 miles out and back do you get paid for the "and back" or is it unpaid deadhead ? The one red flag to me is using Fords . Very few hotshotters...

Looking for info on hauling cars

You'd be much better off with a medium duty truck and 48' stepdeck to give you more load versatility . Auto rates are way too low . Things are slow in every mode of freight . The auto haulers I know that are succeeding have been in it a while and have an established customer base .
