    Cold Weather Time

Two bodies in a van is not only fun but it's worth it. We have two deep-cycle batteries isolated from the van elec. system that provide all the extra electicity need for all the aux eqpt we've installed on the van. I have a 12v electric matress pad bought from a T/A one winter. I have it on...

    off duty driving

I don't have your problem in my less than 10,001# van but here's what I know about Missouri's DOT regs: Any commercial vehicle with a REGISTERED WEIGHT over 12,000 pounds, operating beyond local, must log and scale in Missouri. The latter is regardless of the GVWR. Perhaps your carrier is...

    Fix it right or else..........

I sure agree with Divspec1; Use a credit card for any purpose where satisfaction with the product or service is important to you. Its use gives you leverage to cause a problem with the product or service to be resolved. It does not, however, absolve the purchaser of complete payment based on his...

    Items along the road

I think the most common unintentional item seen alongside the road is a mattress. Hardly a day goes by thatwe don't see a mattress or two. Next in line is furniture, usually a plastic lawn chair or an occasional stuffed chair cushion. Don't ya know someones momma ain't gonna be happy when her...

    DIS-Orientation

I also think A-Team, Raceman and Dreamer are on the money. Rene and I never had orientation and we struggled through many a truck stop BS setting to glean the info we needed to succeed. It serves one well to learn first-hand, the company philosophy, personnel and policies.

    FECC "CONTEST"

Next chance I get, I'm going to suggest in person at FedEx CC that instead of offering a chance at $25,000, all drivers that meet the desired 80/80 performance goals should share equally in a bonus pot of money. That way, drivers that change their behavior in response to FedEx CC's desires will...

    FECC "CONTEST"

We're no longer in the running and statistically can't catch up. We've been out of service for a number of necessary reasons and we refused several runs with which we, as a team, would not have profited. The word Contest is synonomous with "we'd like you to stay available and take our freight...

Are you going to EAT that???!!!!

I've enjoyed many a peanut butter(super chunk) and chopped onion sandwich. My gag food is anything on the buffet line after the fat guy, who didn't wash his hands in the mens room after dropping a deuce, handles all the utensils,

    question

Vans under 10,001 pounds are not regulated by the federal government, so you don't need a CDL to operate one commercially; however, some carriers haul Hazmat on vans so under these circumstances you'll need a hazmat endorsement on a CDL. No Log Books unless carrying 1000 pound, of hazmat...

Top 17 Bumper Stickers You Would Like To See

My most recent favorite: I'd like to die in my sleep like my grandfather: not yelling and screaming like all the passengers in his car.

FedEx to raises 2005 rates 2.6%

Interesting! Let's hope Custom Critical follows suit and everyone else jumps on the same wagon. The industry sure needs a fiscal infusion. Since we get 58% of the customers tarrif, we'll also reap a proportionate share of any increase. I hope that fuel surcharge decrease is just a forecast...

    Starting out

Dave: You said you might be working for a Detroit area expedite carrier that "says" you'll be home every day. I'm suspicious and you should be also. Remember the USMC recruiter? Was he a bit careless with the truth as you experienced it? All reputable expedite carriers would have informed...

    HOT TOPIC... !!!

I certainly agree with Tom's concept and the value to all of us But... If it's implementation is going to have any chance of success, any ratings must be justified in order to have any value. Chetjester's T/A comments are a good example of a justified rating. His alumabunk comments, both the...

    Washing your Truck

Cargo vans need washing also. We've paid $12 more often than not, but have gone as high as $18. Red Baron and truck-o-mat when we can. The best washes ever have been at the independent across the street from the Albuquerque Flying J. Sure beats do-it-urself with a pocketful of quarters.
