Cost of hiring a new driver

From what i've seen, it will remain way less expensive to recruit than to practice a successful (read welfare) retention program. With all the agendas I observe from the driving pool ( barn sour, knows it all, knows nothing, lazy, unable, etc.) there would be no bottom to the hole in which you...

    We cannot elect Obama!!!

Seems it's bad again, having to choose the better of some not so good choices.

Bad news on expenses and profits!

I probably have the oldest squarest cabover in the expedite business and just did a turn to Ca and back. Average for the RT was .338 per mile. Which is about 19% of gross. Not sure where the above figgures are comming from at 90 cent per mile. Musta been someone that idles too much, drives...

    Dispatchers?

Won't work for them either. Incentive or otherwise. Look at the expediting force. How many you know that realize their floor each week, then roll craps for home?

    Dispatchers?

But, only IF, they understand the gap. And, really choose to fill it, steada having something to do for a while. Never know when that "homerun" will pop up. You may watch for 18 hours straight, and at 18 hours 8 minutes, there is the home run. Just 8 minutes after the puter goes off...

    Dispatchers?

My experience with work-at-homes is, the very vast majority don't have the discipline to make it work, at home. They allow themselves way too many distractors, and, they don't want to take the time to get their "sheets" together to make it work for them. Just anuther easy way out, it seems...

    is yours up or down

RE: The Bridge Tolls are RE: is yours up or down cheri, problem is, most the folks I have observed use a pusher to "allow" for their "toolarge" sleeper, so they may carry that extra few pounds that will allow a 6500lb payload. (or whatever) Then we have to read about sumpin costing too much...

    Concluding Our Rookie Year

Yessir Phil it's time to pull the plug till about April for me. Might get back out there sooner, IF, global warming provides good weather. Fortunately, i've been home a lot and nothing neglected there. So, when I get back this trip, all I have to do is drain the water in the hasienda before...

    Beware when considering "opportunities"

You know what? It works the other way also. I've been wanting to retire for some time now, and have a thriving business i'd like to find someone good to continue with. For the price of a good truck I have offered a truck, and established business to a couple folks. And, about the third time...

    is yours up or down

RE: The Bridge Tolls are RE: is yours up or down I guess a couple of you missed the "load the truck as intended part" eh? That relates to extra revenue. If you are not realizing additional income to cover the extra donuts... then take the tag off, or, don't run empty too much thru a toll...

    is yours up or down

RE: The Bridge Tolls are RE: is yours up or down Y'all wanted a big truck. So.... Leave em down, load the truck as intended, cross the toll booth, pay the price. Problem solved. Ya know, trying to screw the pooch the second time, probably won't work.

Maybe you could ask Broom about the value of the trucks. And, ask how they should be warranted also.

Truck blew up from oil plug coming out after servi

RE: Truck blew up from oil plug coming out after s Yes, good luck on your situation. Appears to me your delima is a result of some really astute gage watching. Or, maybe too much SIRRUS, or, that in-flight movie. Don't know how you are going to get around that runn'in her dry.

    OK who did it?

Thats what I have found with "experienced" contractors. Seems they are unable to adjust to the "new" after they've made the change to the new and different they wanted. It's unfortunate.
