Many states have signage, if not actual laws, stating; "stay right except to pass" or "slower traffic use right lane".

Even if it isn't a law common sense should dictate. There is enough going on in an intersection, no need for a lane change. Make your move well before or after the intersection. If you are looking well ahead of your vehicle then this shouldn't be a problem.
