    hi

Well personally I've had a great first quarter until last half of March. At the moment things are slow and of course the company does have more drivers than last year at this time. We are doing more calls than last year (I'm watchiing the load numbers) but right now I am sleeping more than...

    Canada Canadian Expediters

While I agree that this site does have a load of info, it seems that most of the Cdn boys go about things in the old fashion way. They ask older drivers, ppl at the company, their bookkeepers. Yes bookkeepers not full CAs. 1 cheaper, 2 availability, 3 finding one with trucking experience...

HOW WILL YOU SPEND THE EASTER WEEKEND ??

Well was able to get home and for once had a call within 30 miles of home on Thursday nite. Projects were to clean out truck etc, but cold weather and its been snowing unitl an hour ago (not fond of working on buggies in the blowing snow). Instead worked on computers and got wireless and wired...

    Canada Canadian Expediters

This week I had opportunity to talk with several Cdn Expeditors. Not one has online capability in their vehicles and do not go online at home with regards to the business (other than vehicle repair or replacement concerns or so it seems). All had e-mail or text messaging on their cell...

    Canada Fuel Availability & Pricing

Well the fuel crisis in Southern Ontario seems to be over. At least the availability problem has been solved and the oil companies are suppling fine at this time. The pricing has started to come down from the high of 99.9 cents per litre (much higher in northern part of province). However the...

    Canada Canadian Expediters

Well most of the Cdn expeditors are probably not aware of this site. I only found it by looking. Many expeditors up here are not online very often or are online for a very specific purpose. Awareness comes from various places, but this is primarily an american site. There are very few of...

    Insurance

My insurance has the first 2 years vehicle replacement. So if it is totalled in that time frame I get the original value. After that I get market value. Contents are partially covered by auto and rest covered by home insc. Rob Fis

    Dock Height?

For the most part not a lot of trouble. Many places have a ground level or drive in door. Most skids come off as a skid. However there are those jobs where you have to handbomb, both ends. If your in a dock then the hand bombing isn't too bad usually. Larger items pose some problems, but...

    Are These The Bad Times?

Paul, Rich and Dave have it right. Look at the auto and mfg health. If those sectors go down then expediting dies a little or a lot depending on company, customers etc. Another area to look at is the number of carriers in freight and courier that are around in the larger markets. If...

Canada US to Require Passports for Nearly All

So why is there not a national database of footprints??? I know ppl don't usually go around robbing places in their barefeet. But it would help in identifying a DB or amnesia patients and those using false ID. Just a thought Rob Fis

    Canada Traffic Rules - Streetcars

Rob nice to mention the streecars, but I think the new rule about the busses would affect more drivers. Basically ppl the rule in Ont is that busses pulling out from a bus stop have the right of way and you have to YEILD to the bus. Most busses have a sign on their left rear saying YEILD but I...

    how large is large

Alright first a silly question... Is Pather just an expedite company or does it do general freight as well. If it does only expedite then it is largest by fact that Fdcc is part and parcel of the larger company. Does fdcc get loads from the other divisions of fedex?? If so then those were...

Canada US to Require Passports for Nearly All

Some hospitals actually take a footprint of newborns. Like a fingerprint it stays the same over your life. It is easier and they get a better result than those tiny hands. Rob Fis

Canada I am a Canadian Company Finally. Finding LOADS?

RE: I am a Canadian Company Finally. Finding LOADS Some companies here have a communications fee as a minimum plus other items are covered as well. The costs vary from place to place but the comm system does not cost anywhere near the price charged. As a fleet owner...??? Not sure what items...

    My Pet Peeve!!!

Similar thing everywhere. Had a new delivery customer that were in the back building (of three). No signage at the road or any other indication of their existance. In Buenos Aries and I think Montevideo they have mandated building numbers to a white sign with black numerals and must be to the...

Canada I am a Canadian Company Finally. Finding LOADS?

RE: I am a Canadian Company Finally. Finding LOADS Since things seem to be slowing down a little it looks like you're not doing too bad. Keep looking for loads and good luck. I've only found several short hauls paying better per mile. I had a few paying as high as $5 per mile, but few and far...

Canada US to Require Passports for Nearly All

Well it was nice to cross the border with only a drivers lic but as the world has changed and with the amount of fraudulant papers out there, it is sensible for the gov't to require one item for everyone. The $97 for a passport is not unreasonable considering that it is good for 5-10 years...

    Entering the USA

Nicely said. These new regs for the US boarder have had an amazing effect in Canada on the small carriers like IBCL who no longer take loads to the US. This leaves these loads for the companies like FedexCC, Dynamix, DECExpress, K-Dac etc. Some of these smaller outfits were going to the US for...

    &*%$# Brooklyn runs!!!

Oh forgot about the ticket question. Up here tickets are not considered a business expense, but that doesn't stop some guys from cliaming them as one. Remember you got the ticket for doing something wrong (read illegal) and therefore are not considered a regular business expense.
