You're a long way from any high volume freight areas. Just try to stay central as much as you can. Most brokers like a pick arrival within about 90 mins on the "ASAP" picks.

I'd stay there a bit. Between Tucson, Phoenix & Nogales you should be able to snag something. But that ALL depends on IF your carrier is actually watching for a load for you.

It happens. We like the shorties too. Can usually get a silly per mile rate on them. One just has to be careful and be sure to either get all miles or enough to let that load finance your deadhead to a decent area.

Admittedly, I took 2 loads to Tucson & Nogales about 19 months ago. The second got in my van for $.8588 per loaded mile. The first was a lot more!!

Many posted loads end up going on a plane or LTL. If air cargo is $1000 for a Monday guarantee and expedite is, for example, $1800... The math gets easy. On the flip side, if a Sprinter or cube is loaded and headed there with a skid and has room for a couple more I can see them knocking the...

Good area for me. I think I usually sit no more than about 4-5 daylight hours there before being booked. Find a Lowe's. Watch a movie. It'll happen.

1. Walmart. Out in a corner. 2. Lowe's if not going straight to sleep. Best wifi from the lot. 3. PFJ. If I need fuel before bunking.

IMO those tools are way more valuable than their cost. If you sit have a liftgate, you are a candidate for what may be the ONLY load out of that pit of an area you are in. Once the company trucks trucks started failing that I "inherited" in 2002, I started spec'ing all our straights the same...
