    Delivery refused

In LTL I have had consignees refuse shipments because of damage. Instead of accepting the shipment with a damage notation and filing a claim, they refuse it. Sometimes a consignee will refuse a load because the billing terms are freight collect and they were under the impression that the...

    Making Biden sound intelligent

Even Edgar Bergen would have a difficult time making Biden sound intelligent. Of course he's been dead for 30 years. Bergen, not Biden.

Number of miles it takes to pay for a Sprinter.

Yeah, at least 10%. Prior to buying my first van I ran all the numbers. I padded them just to be safe. Fuel was the greatest variable so I carried that number way out to the extreme of $1.50/gallon. I figured worst case, if gasoline got to $1.50/gallon, I could still make my van payment and...

    Delivery refused

Yeah full rate and plenty of time on the return end. I was with Con-Way at the time. They had an LTL terminal in nearby Rockfish. I don't know why they had me bring it back to the shipper at expedite rates.

    Delivery refused

Good question! In my LTL days refused loads were quite common. As an expedite driver I have had a few consignees refuse to unload my van, even though they had a forklift and ramp. In one case the customer got involved and jacked up the consignee (USPS) and eventually I got unloaded. Another...

    Trailer Tail

Infamous? I don't like seeing that adjective in front of my name. If it was entirely up to me, I'd nix the award just because of the "infamous" crack. Kim has the final say though and he pointed out the fact that you did provide enough thorough, objective and hard data to receive the...

    Dui in a box truck

Lakehurst, New Jersey? Maybe Mr. Newmon was participating in a historical reenactment of the Hindenburg disaster. "Oh, the humanity!"

    Fed Ex T-Val Trailer.

Was it loaded with reefer freight? Even dry freight would probably require tarpping the first four pallets.

Cargo Vans - What is your straight through limit?

Their liability and your safety are not necessarily mutually exclusive. "The dispatchers were good." Define good. After reading this post, I for one am sure glad you will never go back into a van. We certainly don't need people with your mindset populating the van segment of the expedite...

    Truckstops

Approximately 60% of my gas is purchased at truck stops. That 60% is almost exclusively spent at Flying Pilots because of the shower program and coffee club.

Cargo Vans - What is your straight through limit?

I was just reiterating how the 16 rule can work against safety. Like Turtle said: "If it were all about safety, then the rule would be applied with common sense and intelligence in situations where both are called for."

I must have missed it and you posted twice, posted twice. Sure you typed the words "non-financial benefits" in post 5, but you really didn't mention what these "non-financial benefits" are. I believe Shane runs 70 psi all around and he seems very happy!

Cargo Vans - What is your straight through limit?

The situation I mentioned in my post has more to do with being a "safety showpiece" than operating safely.
