Minneapolis MN where are all the Vanners?

Being in a van, in nice weather, if you can't find something interesting to do, you may just be a boring person. And it should be more interesting than sitting in a truckstop talking to van drivers. You may grow up to be the next Layoutshooter, who comes on here often to admit that he's bored. :)

Somewhere someone is thinking: I'll fix it for him. Maybe John will pick the Jag up in the new car...... I wouldn't say that because I don't know you, but it does slip past the filters. :)

Are Any Expedited Carriers Concerned with keeping on Own/Op with current low rates?

Re: Are Any Expedited Carriers Concerned with keeping on Own/Op with current low rate Dave, are you saying you are running your reefers as dry units to keep them moving and only take a higher rate on temp loads ?

Are Any Expedited Carriers Concerned with keeping on Own/Op with current low rates?

Re: Are Any Expedited Carriers Concerned with keeping on Own/Op with current low rate This is what confused me. Isn't FedEx maybe .05-.10 cheaper loaded, but like $1.13 w/fsc empty ? And you don't have newer contracted / lower paid people to compete with ? I can't see the Panther is way better...

    Technical log question...

Electronic logs will log one minutes activity. There is no 6 minute minimum. Great question. When Roadway called, it did not " start our clock" for log purposes. It did start a clock that gave us 2 hours to arrive, prepared to work. I'll stand behind previous statement unless OP has some...

    Technical log question...

I'd say technically it does, but it's not enforced. My bro, the phone man, if he answers a call out is on the clock from the time he answers the phone. Not related, but an interesting fact, to me, of working in a more labor friendly environment. :)

    This waiting period!!

If you go OOS at the Fed it means the truck. You can be called. I know drivers that will go through the process of also placing the driver OOS if they know they will be drinking.

Man forced son to carry 23# rock

After my wife got her CDL, as she had given her notice to end her 27 year teaching career, a parent said to their child in a Parent-Teacher conference " Do you want to grow up stupid and have to drive a truck all your life ?" The principal quickly shot a look at my wife who just smiled.

Man forced son to carry 23# rock

Well, that kid better start paying attention to his studies. Or he'll grow up and have to drive truck. In which case his parents ought to help him work on that BMI.

    The place to learn

I would highly recommend driving for someone first. Live the lifestyle. Do real research from the road. If you like it after 6-12 months, buy your vehicle. You'll have a better chance of buying the right vehicle.

    Massive career change...

If there isn't a sticky to refer this guy too, there should be. Then we could refer people to it. It should cover unsteady income, lack of benefits, taxes. Companies that don't pay, cost of ownership, etc. This question comes up a few times a week and I think many put off the weekend of...
