I've heard people talk about it, but it's one of those "old school thinking" deals that isn't really a good idea. What's the point? If you overdo it you're going to have problems, and with that kind of ratio recommendation... I've used Power Service for years and never gelled. Ever.

At fault for what? Some snow hit the car and was wiped away with the wipers. The car was a good distance back and a lane over. While totally cleaning a roof is a big project, a snow rake could have been used to knock off the lions share of that build up.

My thought is that you're just off duty doing a 34, unless you told them you were OOS. But, as I said, there's some flexibility. There's no need for them to interrupt your reset. That's just dumb.

It's not brokers rules, it's the policy of Ford and GM and probably Chrysler as well. How strict the enforcement is is plant specific. When they've seen that they're not gonna fall through your floor, your good to go at some of the plants.

No, when I asked "what's the point" it's the truck and driver OOS thing. Every company I've been with my truck goes with me when I'm OOS. I don't understand doing both.

You have more room to play on a tractor because it's the trailer that has the 10 year rule. If someone had a straight in good condition that could go farther than 10 years, and there's lots of them out there, just put a new box on it. Lots cheaper than a new truck.

I don't get the whole driver and truck OOS thing. If you're OOS why wouldn't your truck also be OOS?

If you go back on duty then, of course, you stop the reset. It's my experience that the companies have a bit of flexibility in when you're asked. If they see you're on a 34 it'd be reasonable for them to wait until you've got your hours back. But, based on some of the stories I've heard about...

Ahhh, the old Ford Louisville. I drove one back in the 70s. 238 with a 10 speed. Just screamin' down the road, hardly getting out of its own way and blowing oil out the breather tube. I'm sure I can attribute a sizable percentage of whatever hearing loss I may have to that truck.
