    Teamsters vs Toys R US

If it were up to the Teamsters all of the kids would be playing with Lincoln Logs and erector sets. Hmm, maybe that's not such a bad idea?

Remember the 2010 mileage rate is less

Thanks Frank. Since I am working on getting all my documents together for the end of the year I will add that into my spreadsheet.

Ok Everyone, LET ME HAVE IT! Poor it on hard!

Sorry to hear about your problems with a bad fleet owner. It's amazing how many will take advantage of you if they get the chance. The reason so many of us are focused on the inspections is because whoever was driving that truck now has over 100 CSA points. All of those little things add up and...

    Work Accident Insurance?

Maybe I should change my question: Has anyone ever made a claim under the work accident insurance policy? Was the claim paid? What were the circumstances? If there are 1000 trucks in the fleet paying an average of $2000 per year, that's 2 million dollars someone is collecting for something...

    Work Accident Insurance?

Each week we get a sizeable deduction for Work Accident Insurance. (Several thousand dollars so far this year) I know it is required and that it is similar to, but different then Workers Compensation. My question is does anyone know what this actually covers or where I can find out? I assume...

Ok Everyone, LET ME HAVE IT! Poor it on hard!

CSA 2010 is real. Full implementation may be delayed again, but the info from roadside inspections, accidents, tickets, etc. is on your record and can be checked by your carrier. Or any carrier or fleet owner you are applying to. With the information Yesteryear supplied about failed DOT...

Ok Everyone, LET ME HAVE IT! Poor it on hard!

After getting a Level 2 in Nevada recently I asked the DOT Officer how much training they had been given regarding CSA2010. His answer was "Well, I've heard a little about it, but we don't have any books or training programs yet." He was not aware that it goes back 3 years and had no clue of...

Meet Sal Giunta, the first living Medal of Honor winner since Vietnam

Sal Giunta is a true American Hero and deserves this honor. I had the pleasure of serving in Berlin with SSGT Jon R. Cavaiani, a living recipent of the Medal of Honor. After getting to know him I can understand why so few are awarded. The people who receive them are truly of a different...

    Tractor trailor vs. expediting

It all depends on who you are leased on to. Both have there pluses and minuses. What works for you may not work for me.

How many staying out and running over THanksgiving

All ready at home for the Holiday. Got to see my step son sworn into the Navy yesterday and shipped off to boot camp. Will be back in service on 11/26. Wonder if anyone will be shipping anything the day after Thansgiving?

    Darn gas prices

Not sure if this is on or off topic but I got my turkey for 59 cents a pound at Publix yesterday here in Florida. I thought that was a fair price and in line with last years pricing.

    Washing our truck?

I used Palmolive. It worked well. The scrub brush and pole I bought worked well too. But the scrub brush was a little to soft for serious scrubbing. I bought the slightly curved one and it was easy to get into some of the hard to reach areas. I used a hard bristle brush I already had and...

    Thank you, FedEx :-)

I have done the same thing. But I ask on the Quallcom and wait for a yes reply. Then when I do my next run, after the departure call I explain to the dispatcher that I was authorized to Louisville. I tell them the date and time of the QC message authorizing me to go there and ask them to send...

    Roll Call

I should have added. My step son leaves tomorrow for basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Station. Momma is worried, but I am very proud of him for enlisting. GO NAVY!

    Washing our truck?

We usually get our truck washed at one of the big name places, but have been unhappy with the quality we have been getting lately. Since we are at home in sunny Florida we decided to buy a long pole and brush and do it ourselves this time. Does anyone have any advice on a detergent that will...

    Apportioned Plates

Our IRP plate is on the front. When I got it at the main office in Tallahassee, Fl the women there told me I only needed one and it goes on the front. But I have seen similar trucks with Florida plates on front and rear.
