    August 8, 1974

I was 15, so you can imagine my priorities ;) . I thought it was the only thing he could do. OTOH, I supported Gerald Ford's decision to pardon Nixon; getting over it was the best thing to do. There were other issues we needed to contend with in 1974. Sent from my XT1028 using EO Forums...

Got my paws on the Ford Transit

OK. Scale ticket: Door tag: Steer: 3240. 3550. Drive: 2980. 5520. Sum: 6220 GVW 8900 Spare (80 lbs) is right behind passenger seat. Looks like I should hang it underneath like the Lord and Henry Ford meant it to be. That means buying the mount for $200 plus, because...

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

Depends on the circumstances; I've had two TONU's in the last three weeks. One was a cancelation; I got $20 for having driven 15 miles. The other was shipper error (4410' on a van? Hell no); I got $50 for a trip of 28 miles. Sent from my XT1028 using EO Forums mobile app

Typically, about $20-25, unless the deadhead to pickup was a long way. Then you get more. Doesn't pay at the same rate as a run, but you should be able to cover your fuel, etc. Sent from my XT1028 using EO Forums mobile app

Got my paws on the Ford Transit

I'm a bit confused here. Logic tells me to put the lightest one in the back, that is, loaded last. My question was really, should the heaviest one go over the axle, or forward most so that its weight is shared by both axles. Forward most seems to make the most sense. Sent from my...

Got my paws on the Ford Transit

With three skids, where should the heaviest one go? My van takes two, so the heavier one goes over the wheels. Otherwise, the van would sway its booty like a pole dancer :p Sent from my XT1028 using EO Forums mobile app

Small diesels usually don't like the high-speed nozzles because of the size of the filler necks. Semi truck tanks just have caps; the fuel doesn't foam up as much, so the nozzles don't kick off as quickly. Sent from my XT1028 using EO Forums mobile app

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

Dang you, OVM, ya made me laugh! Question: will a Sprinter tolerate the high-speed pumps out back? I remember having problems with them during my years in construction; the F350's we used would only tolerate the slower, car-side diesel pumps used by Vdubs & such... Sent from my XT1028...

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

Meanwhile, back at the pilot, I just found out I'm not a professional driver! Why? Because my vehicle doesn't burn diesel. I buy a hot dog for lunch, and the clerk asks me if I want to use my points. I ask, what points? She said, for buying fuel. I told her that PFJ does not issue points for...

Does any truckstop have decent internet?

I will have to contact Wandering WiFi. The person at PFJ offered to "troubleshoot" the system. That would mean remotely rebooting the router at the truckstop. I'm sure that would have gone over real well with whomever else was on the internet at the time... :p Sent from my XT1028 using EO...

Does any truckstop have decent internet?

Paid $20 for a month of PFJ internet the other day; it's terrible! Service is weak when it works, which it usually doesn't, and when I complained, I was told that no refund is possible. Gonna take it up with my bank; maybe a backcharge will get the attention of the hacks in Knocksville :p

No joy in Memphis, so I relo'd to Little Rock. This morning, 3 calls in 15 minutes, but no runs out of them. So, I sit. Benton, Ark. at the Pilot for sleep and Starbucks for working internet. Sent from my XT1028 using EO Forums mobile app
