    August. Where you at,

OOS in Pittsburgh while the van gets fixed. Was offered a weekend run to NYC. Obviously, no way would I do that; after 8 years, going back into Manhattan with the van would be like a dog going back to the guy who beat him. Only way I'd go into NYC is to hand carry the freight the last few miles...

Forum Tip New Features of the Forum

Want a Friday load? I just got offered a Pittsburgh to NYC run. 1700 lbs, delivers in Manhattan. How would I unload it? Nobody in Manhattan has forklifts or Hi- Lows. If a building even has a dock, that means a dock-high truck. And don't even get me started on the cost of tickets! Obviously I...

    August. Where you at,

What in the WORLD is going on in Detroit? 400 units? I didn't even bother counting the vans. Ky to Roseville, Mi. After the shock wore off from just seeing 400 units in the D, I DH'ed 100 miles to Lansing. Now at the J in Gd Ledge. Four vans/Sprinters here, including myself. Told dispatch "do...

    August. Where you at,

I neither see nor smell gear oil. It has been a long time since the rear was serviced I admit. :( I also don't hear the chunk-a-chunk noise one usually hears when a bearing is failing. No howl from the pumpkin, etc. Just a rumble that frankly sounds like nothing worse than a brand new set of...

    August. Where you at,

Took my new tires on an overnight shortie to Ypsilanti, then from Warren to Lexington, Ky. Now at the J in Waddy. Van had a rumble that I thought was my old tires. New tires made it quieter but rumble is still there. I had a Ford dealership check it out yesterday morning. He said it needs a...

    August. Where you at,

Woke up hungry, went to Denny's. Got a load to Meritor in Troy, Mich. Somewhere in the night, my rear spot mirror either fell off or was "adopted" by someone else. I didn't hear it leave, so I think it was taken. Update: it didn't scratch the paint when it departed, so I'm pretty sure it...

Fleet owners that pays by W2.

That depends on each driver's unique situation: how much they have withheld for federal, which state they live in, etc. Just for me, on $700 there'd be $21.50 taken out for PA taxes, for instance. Paullud lives in NY, so state taxes are $ , while OVM pays no state taxes at all....
