Pretty much the same in my area of Port Huron, MI. Mostly $9-$10 jobs, sweat it out in a factory for a while might get you up to $13 eventually. I definitely could stay home and not starve, but not getting a head either. Hell, at this point, even a $21 job (which often temps me) would still...

Absolutely you do. Pizza, pop, and beer (and any other processed junk food I could scarf down) were my favorites. But honestly, I found the transition to whole real foods extremely easy and enjoyable. The more I learned, and experienced the benefits first hand, the less I wanted or craved...
