Five Questions Prospective Expediters Should Ask

Phil I wish I had gotten more info and I wish I had also asked others. Back then there was no EO to help Newbies with things. 1. When deadheading what is the best time of day to deadhead? When I started out in Expediting back in 1995 I was laid over in Atlanta, Ga on a Friday. I...

    FedEx Repo.

I don't think that was a FedEx yard. It looked like a place where contractors park their trucks.

    A Rude Awakening- A Rant-Pet Peeves

I would agree 100% Dave. I could care less if a driver is in a uniform or not. I wear a uniform when I'm on the road because I like too. A clean looking driver and truck is a happy driver. I take pride in the job I do when I'm on the road. Is a uniform for everyone? Nope. I don't ask our drivers...

    A Rude Awakening- A Rant-Pet Peeves

I would have to say that is not always the case. We had a driver that was on a NLM load and the shipper complained about the way the driver was dressed on their dock. I won't go into what he was wearing Ken, but it wasn't something you and me would wear brother. Your shorts was better than what...

    FDcc flat rate?

If anyone thinks Panther gives preferential treatment to fleet owners they are so wrong. If they did we would be doing $30,000 a month per truck each month, our drivers want all the miles they can get. Don't think that our trucks don't sit sometimes because they do. That is why I use Trans Core...

    FDcc flat rate?

We also find our own freight too, as we don't totally depend on our carrier for 100% of the freight that goes on our trucks. Your talking about two owners that has over 43 years combined time in the business also. That was a few weeks ago, that don't happen all the time either.

    Pilot vs TA fuel

Maybe TA keeps their tanks in the ground cleaner IDK. Our fleet of ten trucks uses TA and Petro fuel only if we can. The heat transferred receipts is another reason we don't go there. Come tax time the one year we opened up our receipts to add them up for the year, they was black. We had to get...

    Pilot vs TA fuel

We quit using Pilot Fuel about four years ago. We used Pilot fuel only because the rebate that we got from them as being leased on with FedEx Custom Critical. Their fuel is junk and has water in it that caused us to replace injectors a lot. We changed to T/A fuel and our fuel mileage when up and...

Why we don't regularly park at truck stops!!!

I will agree with you on this. But if you make a call to the police most will not take a report in a truck stop. But the call is logged in their system on what is called a police man/woman call sheet. That way your CYA. Do I agree that every call needs to be made? No, but most carriers want a...

    A Rude Awakening- A Rant-Pet Peeves

I would have to agree with you 100% on this. I know if I was paying top dollar to have a shipment moved I would want the best service and a clean driver going to my customer. Think of it this way. You just landed a new account and the customer wants the freight there ASAP. Now you can use Billy...

Why we don't regularly park at truck stops!!!

I would NEVER not call the police no matter how small the accident is. Drivers can change stories around and say you hit them. You have marks on the deck of the trailer and he could have said you backed into him. It's your word against theirs in a court of law. Because you didn't report the...

Are you ready for the busy season?

With September here and freight picking up are you ready for the busy season? Now is the time that everyone should be in service 80% to make as much money as you can. That way you can put money back for the slower times in January, February, and March. I hope everyone is busy.

    Sad news for Drivers

This is really sad. Can we get a fund raiser going to help keep this program going? You up for it Linda and Bob. This is something that is dear to my heart and if it can keep just one driver to be able to live longer than it is worth it. I lost my father early at the age of 62. If a program like...

    The Game

I let our contracted drivers choose what loads they take or don't take. For the most part they call us to see what we think in regards to the load offer.
