    Lane Closed Ahead

I'm trying to figure out why a truck driver thinks its his right to block a travel lane just because the other lane is shut down. It is illegal to block a lane in all states. The law in most if not all states say merge at gore point. That means where the barrels are, unless there is a sign that...

Who takes the least out of your check??

Simple its in the contract you sign to lease on with them. Like at LEAM you either go for the deductions or you don't get to lease on with LEAM. Some of what they want you to get might be cheaper on the open market.. Been dealing with Landstar since 1996 minus the last 2 years, its been the...

Tractor trailer crashes into Amtrak train

One the gates were down, two both other trucks with him stopped, the train tried to slow down seeing what was coming. He went into the side of the train. The train didn't hit him he hit the train. I agree there is more to follow on what caused the crash and that will be a year from now when the...

    H.O.S. revisited again.

Re-looked at the article and it said this, Keith Tuttle manages a fleet of trucks he says is making a narrow profit hauling empty aluminum cans from manufacturers in northwest Ohio to beer and soda makers in New Jersey, I do not believe they were at gross...light load.. Plus most of the way is...

    H.O.S. revisited again.

Someone just might need to teach those drivers how to drive if it takes them 11 hours to go 550 miles.. they only average 50MPH for the whole trip..LOL As for the 13 hour clock, It's still a 14 hour clock, its just the FMCSA making drivers take a couple of 15 min breaks and a 1/2 hour lunch break.

    truck stop inspections

Moose, we all put off duty when we are at a truck stop or other places when taking a 10 hour break, but here are the definitions from the FMCSA'S web site. Please look at number 4. We might be able to use info in the paragraph to get around number 4. On duty time means all time from the time a...

    truck stop inspections

One they can interrupt your sleeper berth( you just have to start your 10 hr break all over again) . Two both seats are considered on duty not driving, not just the drivers seat. For the people here that run team, is it not true, sitting in the jump seat is on duty not driving. I know no one...

    Re: An Injustice Averted

One thing I have learned in the 20 + years being a O/O is that no matter what a 100k truck makes the same as a 200K truck. The only difference is the truck payments. When I was at MATS I seen all the fancy FedEx ST's and seen how most of the drivers wouldn't give you the time of day. The...

1.4 a mile for a WG team that has a 200K or more investment in their straight truck is chump change. But I would have taken the load fort the revenue to the truck.

Do you really need a hazmat endorsement?

Greg, I did the smith system one time when I drove a big truck for JB Hunt. I thought it was one of the dumbest things I ever did to hire on to a company. Some of the things it was wanting you to do is drive in the second lane from the right even thou you were driving under the speed limit...
