    My trucks have been busy.

We've only done 1 brokered load and it paid very well. We've tried Getloaded, but so far haven't found anything that paid enough even when combining a few loads.

    Waiting at truck stops?

We stayed at a KOA in Chino California for 4 days. I called to make reservations, and described our "vehicle". You could hear the confusion on the other end. LOL When we arrived, they knew who we were and were fascinated by our "freight capable RV". It was a great stay! Oh yeah, the...

    Email Change

I tried to change my email address and I end up in a loop. I am registered for the Open Forum, but when I go to "user CP" to change my email address it takes me to the Classified Section. When I click sign in, it tells me to register. When I try register and it says, my username is is already...

    Time to grill

We're sitting on a load this weekend so we stopped at Walmart, bought a little grill, steaks, corn etc. If we can't be home....we'll make it home anyway and have a cookout. ;)

    Sun Visor versus Fuel Consumption

Hey Linda....I noticed your 3rd driver up there in the passenger seat! ;) Truck looks fine that way, and the window tint strip is a great idea!

    Question for teams.

We don't really have a set schedule. Who ever drove last is in the sleeper for the next time. We are both awake at pickup or delivery so that we can help with navigation etc. Sometimes one of us is shorted on sleep time but it all works out in the end.

what do your kids do when you are gone??

Guess that beats "canoeing" a big storage bin down ditch after a good rain. Or...putting your buddies in a 55 gallon drum and rolling them down the dirt road :D

    Need opinion of exp.expeditors.

We came from T/T team driving and the biggest thing we had to get used to was the sitting. Expediters have feast or famine lives :p Either we are running til the wheels fall off, or sitting and growing moss. It's a great life once you get used to it. Ask the fleet owner for current / past...

    Co-Drivers perspective

Ateam, I think that what you posted about the "we" is true for a lot of husband/wife teams out here. You did say.. So that does show that there are a few things that both of you "could" do, but by being a team, you do certain things because that's the way you've worked it out. I had to laugh...

    Sun Visor versus Fuel Consumption

Linda, I've heard about the fuel savings from not having the sun visor, but have you noticed any real difference in the sun coming in the windshield? Did the visor have a real purpose for the sun or just look good?

    Upgrading to a Class "A"

How's the big truck driving going? A tip for learning the pre-trip....do it the same way every time. Write down exactly what you need to look at, and do it in the same order. That helps you remember, and helps to eliminate missing something when you're nervous on test day. ;)

    Waiting at truck stops?

For the most part, we still wait at truck stops. We're pretty much self contained, but it's still convenient for showers, laundry etc.

Diesel price versus cost, or whose $20 is that?

Where do you find this chart? I've found lists from 2003, 2005, etc. but not recent. How often do these rates change? Even though we don't pay for the fuel, I'd still like to know how this is figured and how we can plan fuel purchases to be advantageous for our owner.

    Know your credit?

Not to kick the example of Bob and Betty while they're down....but I don't feel that the gov should come in an "bail out" these people. I'm sorry they could lose a home, but the bottom line is they bought a house that they couldn't afford. Unfortunately, sometimes the learning curve is a steep one.

Study: More training does not improve driver safety

We had a diesel shop on campus, so we were shown an actual transmission and how it worked. What the clutch did, how a brake chamber works, how to adjust the brakes on a trailer etc.
