    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

I did! One of these days I'll get drunk and read them again. Then maybe we can communicate on the same drunken plane. From your response I figure you're the one that's drunk. And I'm not on a plane.

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

Moot, do you have a thing against bar stools ? I once sat on a wheel chock but really didn't find it comfortable.

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

If I were in Dayton tonight I could ask Murray about CRE's position, if the jukebox wasn't too loud.

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

Next time John checks in, he can give us his opinion on the usefulness of your form, or the reporting of off duty the previous seven days for someone that was hauling freight in an under 10,000 pound vehicle. I believe he addressed part two, but he'll need to simplify his answer.

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

Glancing back quickly to see what I may have missed, I see references to "I used to....." I used to doesn't cut it in 2017.

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

Turtle is getting it. Moot, since I didn't read your form, does it say 10 hrs on the first, 12 hrs on the second, or does it reflect noon to 10 pm on the first, 0600 to 1800 on the second, etc ? I'm thinking since 395.2 that the less informative form would have become obsolete. JM said that as...

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

Moot, I'll save you some time. Don't bother re-reading the entire thread or the title. Read John Mueller's first two sentences. Carefully. If you want to play truck driver, at times you'll have to act like a truck driver.

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

What you should read is this entire thread, including the title, to understand how an Hours Of Service Certificate could be used by a cargo van driver, instead of an ELD, when hauling hazmat. I've probably used the same form, or similar, when starting at any new carrier. Did you really say...

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

I read the title. And the thread. I'm just more in line with John Mueller's thinking. Some van people may think likewise but they want to follow your thought process because it works better in the van world. I image by the end of 2018 we'll read a courts idea of which idea is correct. I doubt...

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

Because 395.2 changed the logging requirements. And to be frank, I didn't read your document. Either because it wouldn't show clearly on my iPhone or it was too far into happy hour for my eyes to focus.

    Nervous newbie

A team with one week experience getting .50 per mile for a large volume of miles seems good to me. Getting a good experience at their pace. They could spend days in Ca and not get much more than that. And they should be in a good freight area. Plus, weekend miles. I'd say they did all...

Anything before 395.2 was issued is likely to be irrelevant.

Good article on rise in insurance costs

Not too sure about UPS road drivers. Last I heard they were hourly. UPS Freight would be mileage.

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

Terry, wouldn't HOS exempt work in the van the previous seven days, be similar to the pizza delivery work, if there was compensation for driving the van ? Hmmm....

    ELD''s in cargo/sprinter vans

John, does Load One have a plan in place for vans, hazmat, and logging ? If you load a hazmat load on November 8th , aren't you required to have accurate logs for November 1st through 7th ? The common thought process is no. How do we know the driver loading that load didn't drive 30 of the...

    The FedEx Image

Fedex Ground requires uniforms and has strict limits to appearance of trucks. Custom Critical decided to allow freedom in truck appearance, but decided to offer $1000 per year if you opted to look the way they really want you to look. Years ago, CC tried an experiment by allowing a team into...

    Starting my own fleet.

Don't be hasty. Get your CDL. Work with other family members during the 30 days off. Do they have authority/ multiple trucks ? If no, ask why. Just because you have excess disposable income is no reasonable to squander it. This is a hard business to make money in. Very hard. Not saying...

    The FedEx Image

Costs/profits trump image. As customers notice low end partner carriers hauling CC freight, sometimes they've pushed back. By complaining. Or by trying lower cost options. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.
