    The Inevitable Begins

We think that any carrier that promises "no fees", meaning the carrier pays all the fees, insurances, etc. is going to be MUCH more sensitive to a truck/driver that is not available all the time and a less-than-perfect delivery schedule/performance. If a truck/driver pays all their fees, and...

    Slow Cargo Van Freight Toledo-Detroit

We were just in Laredo and it looked like a Bolt CV convention there! There had to be more that a dozen Bolt CVs sitting with almost no one else. It was a balmy 110ish degrees too! We dropped and reloaded out within 3 hours. :):)

    Contacting westmicher ...

Yeah, we know how to get ahold of that rascal! He's been running the wheels off his bus lately and not paying attention to much else but I think he finally replied to your PM today... :D

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Well, the cost could be worked out but its not so much the money. . . I'd have to have your Sprinter for a while, unless I stay steady on it!

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Remember the 2006 and older 3500 Sprinters had the tiny (stupid looking really) 15" wheels and 195/75R15 tires . . . only 25.7" in total diameter. We couldn't stand the stupid look so we went out and bought the 16" Alcoa aluminum wheels for a 2007 (have to use the 2007 lug nuts too or they will...

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Here's another progress picture. You probably can see; 1. Shore power at the driver's rear quarter. 2. Roof Air/Heat condensation drain down inside driver's wall to rear. 3. Storage bins on both sides. 4. The E-track and 2 bys line up with the top of the bin wall so we can lay a second...

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

It's 3/4" thick water-resistant tongue & groove plywood. The insulation prevents any heat or cold whatsoever from penetrating the floor. It may be overbuilt a bit but we wanted it to last forever. We'll post more progress as we get time . . .

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

    About 7". Those 2 x 6's are cut to 5" high.

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Let us see if I can do this right . . . I haven't posted pictures before. If this comes out, it is how we started modifying our 3500 Sprinter wheelwells and storage walls.

    Need Seasoned Expeditor Mentor

From our perspective, you've got to be very careful in selecting the carrier you work with. Really watch for two things: 1. Watch the rates they pay out of good areas. Anything less than top rates don't do any good for anyone but the cheap carrier. 2. Watch how hard they work to get you out...

    Per Diem for co-drivers?

In regards to per diem, does a co-driver have the right to claim the same amount for per diem? Even if they are married? Must the co-driver show income from the driving in order to claim per diem? Even if they are married? I think I know the answers but just looking for the definative answer!

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

The weight capacities you state are for 2007 and newer. Our 2006 was only available as 9,990 lbs. GVW.

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

If you have GREAT insulation 7,000 BTU probably can do a fair job everywhere but in the south Texas summer sun. I did say GREAT insulation. To be safe everywhere, I'd recommend a larger unit.

    Udate on stupid mistake.

Yeah, some people don't like how I look or if I smell . . . which I hope isn't very often! Seriously, can't we all just get along? If some spelling is out of order, just turn the channel? Like the TV?

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

I bought our AirV new off ebay last year for $700 and put it in myself so, with shore power and drain, maybe $800. The generator was $299 and we made a trailer hitch swingaway mount to carry it and a gas can.

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

We have a cheap Menards (probably China) 3100 watt generator (4000 surge) to run our AirV, along with the microwave, tv, computer, fridge, etc. It keeps up with all of it although I wouldn't try anything smaller for all this stuff. Depending on so many variables, we normally get 12-14 hours on...

    Chef Dennis's New CargoMax

We have a Carrier AirV 13,500 BTU rooftop air/heat unit which sticks up maybe 6". We didn't notice any change in before/after MPG. We still got 23.5 @ 62 mph coming across Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri yesterday. We don't miss the awkward squaredances with our old window shaker unit...

    Sprinter 2500 vs 3500

Well I'm a bit late with the pictures. Our floor changeout turned into a complete vehicle do-over, which isn't quite done yet. However, the floor is done. We built it up using 2 x 6's and plywood, filling the voids with 5" of foam insulation. Its very solid and added 180 lbs. to the empty...

I think I can see a possible problem in communication. Jerry Jones, are you sure that they can understand you over at JD Clark? I admit I'm think but I don't quite get all of it myself...
