You are absolutely correct. That was one of the reasons the Army went to A2. Other problems were wasting of the ammunitions, weapon jamming due to overheating and potential for dangerous ammunition "cook off." Though, it was kinda cool to see a platoon lined up and cut trees with the A1...

I kinda like the A1 version better than the A2. The A1 version had no 3 rounds burst control, you can empty a 30 rounds clip in about 5 sec. That was fun:)
