the storm with its counter clock wise rotation passed just to the south and kept going east instead of arching northeast...anything on the westside got dumped on........creating west winds off the lakes....

"78 was a bad one for Hamilton as well....westward winds off Ontario...dumped like 24" in 18 hours....just the shear volume so quickly was overwhelming...

never got lake effect snow that bad? I know you are at the west end of Erie which doesn't really get a lot of lake effect....like my town of Hamilton Ont....west end of Lake Ontario....but when the winds shift and are westward off the lake...oh boy biggie storm....
