Under the BNA...British North American Act...Canadians are exempt from any American constitutional conditions....
Signed by British general Brock and General for Revolutionary forces for the USA General Bailey....
That goes for any "forced" program another one Unemployment Insurance...yet another farce that should be voluntary....better yet just done away with..it costs more to adminster then any benefits it provides..just a sinkhole for OUR cash!!
The point I'll give you is I ALSO agree that one should be able to opt out....if one choses to fund a retirement plan privately that should be ones own choice....
Sorry...it was your dads money, not yours....he forfeited that the day he died...thats not the governments problem?
I am sorry for your loss...please don't take this personal...I think in our best interests it is time for me to withdraw from this discussion...
Ahhh Do they really? With all the tax credits and rebates ad justed to income level....most get a quarterly rebate check for the GST(federal tax) and then the Provincial Tax reduction program and of they still have the child tax credit...known as baby bonus check also paid quarterly...
Yeah..sure...for short S.I. Social Insurance...but the payoffs are a lot less then the plan down here...
And for those that have never contributed they have what they call Canada Pension Plan...which is like a welfare check set equal to the poverty level BUT realize all health care needs are...
And that is one of the reasons it is going broke....they are paying spouses that never contributed and children under 18.
So say a guy pays into it for 15 years...his wife can collect a survivors amount and any children under 18 and in school get an allowance as well.....the plan can't support...
about 3 years...I think I have 11 credits...29 to go at a maximum of 4 per year...another 7 plus years prolly 8 years before I can collect....I'll be in my 67th year by that time...
And depending on how long you live you'll collect more then you ever paid in PLUS interest...
In my case I'll be lucky to collect by 67 before I got my required quarters to be eligible...
Yeah same here...we weren't exactly that serious either...could be said we were yankin your chain back a bit?*L*
Didn't like my joke??
Goes to show BIGGER ain't better...the whales are endangered BUT the ants are doing just fine...
It is to a point that a normal person will collect way more then they contributed....
SS should only be for the person that pays into it....there should be no survivor benefits. That should be taken care of by a separate insurance carrier.
