I wonder why the post was deleted. I believe the poster stated that they only made $800 in a couple of weeks, was not real happy and called Bolt to complain about it. I see no real reason to delete a post like that.

I am not sure how it would work. I have never leased to one of these 5 star carriers and never intend to. You might want to check with your carrier first to see if they allow you to get your own authority.

Good post CharlesD. And you van drivers should check into getting your own authority so you can get some a load when your carrier cannot find you one.

Authority for 10,000# and under is quite different than for 10,001# and up. Not much is required to get or keep it other than maintaining the proper insurance and UCR. I used Permits Plus to get mine.

Any vehicle 10,000# and under not hauling hazmat and not part of a combination is not required to have any markings. If they do it is just company advertising. I have no markings and do not stop at any scales nor do I log at any time.

That is the way I do it and getting my own authority was the best move I made.

When the company takes cheap freight loads they should absorb part of the cost but they never will as long as they can find someone to run these loads. And when drivers take these loads they become part of the problem and not part of the solution.
