what company is good to work for in expediting services in a straight truck?

Just remember Home Time = No Pay. We stay out for usually 10 - 12 weeks, then maybe home for 1. That's us. I don't think FedEx has a "hard-set" time you must stay out, but rather they want you to be available for a certain % of time to haul freight. I'm not sure of the actual % (thinking it's...

MARCH LOCATIONS spring is on it's way

Flying J, in sunny Lodi, CA. Guess if we have to be stuck somewhere for the weekend, this isn't a bad place to be! Sunny and in the upper 60's at 10:30 in the morning local time. Hope to get something out headed east yet today, but probably here for the weekend.

    Fed Ex Orientation

If I remember correctly, we were told during orientation, that under no circumstances were we ever to operate a customer's forklift. (I'm sure for insurance reasons.)

    Fed Ex Orientation

If you are going to be driving a straight truck with no recent experience, FedEx will most likely have you pass a driving test. (Similar to the driving portion of the CDL exam.) I had to take the driving test when I started (apparently they don't consider 25 some odd years as "recent"! lol) It...

    Can anyone top this?

Are you talking about the actual truck number (CXXXX, DRXXXX)? That would really make no sense at all, as truck number really has nothing to do with experience, just time in the fleet. And even that is debatable.

What is the average weight of a straight truck load?

Our truck weighs in close to 30,000# empty. But, it's a twin screw, and can gross 46,000 anywhere. But not interested in hauling 16,000#. It's not how much it weighs, but how much it pays

What is the average weight of a straight truck load?

It can vary greatly. We've hauled a little as 1 fifteen pound cardboard box, up to over 12,000# of automobile parts. Our average load for last year was 3 pieces at a little over 1900#. About 80% of our loads were refrigerated, and I think tend to weigh less than your average surface type load...
