Gettysburg, PA: A Great Expediter Tourist Stop

The "Rebels" would have most likely considered themselves Virginians, Texans, Georgians or what ever state they were from, rather than Americans.

Gettysburg, PA: A Great Expediter Tourist Stop

Gettysburg is an amazing place. We spent a Sunday there last year while getting the truck worked on in Carlisle. We started off the day by attending Christ Lutheran Church downtown. They have a memorial on the front steps marking the place where a Chaplin died during the fighting. A sobering...

09/12/2012 Ohio Turnpike closed due to accident

The Ohio Turnpike east of the 80/90 split, just west of Elyria is closed. They are having everyone get off onto I-90. We haven't even made it to the toll booths yet. Traffic was stopped about 1 mile west of split. Be safe :)

    Stupid Road Signs

My wife and I get a laugh out of "silly" signs all over the country. Having worked in education (government) for many years, one thing is certain; if there is a sign, there is a reason for. Sometime in the past, someone did the behavior the sign is warning against, lol.

What are the Roads You'd Rather Not Travel?

Ditto for I-95 south of DC. Wife hates it. Mine is 95 east of the GW Bridge. Rough does not begin to describe it. :(

    60/40 Split in a straight?

We are on a 40/60 pay. We receive 40% of the run pay (including the small amounts paid for deadhead from previous layover and delivery.) The owner gets 60% of the run, and all of the FSC and toll money. Our only expense is for the occupational accident insurance. Owner pays all maintenance...

    Dry Run Pay

Looks like there have been changes, and it would be nice is we were informed. We had a dry run earlier in the month. Ran around 60 or so miles toward the shipper before getting the dreaded "This run is cancelling" message. Went to the nearest truckstop to wait on the next load. When the dry run...
