    "wiper tag"

RE: wiper design I believe that means that they have recently been through a car wash and a protective cover is placed over the rear wiper to keep it from being ripped off the vehichle by the "washing machine".

My wife is a Dental Hygienist, and their Christmas party is being held tonight. With you guy's permission, I'm going to steal both of these very "puny" stories. Keep 'em coming!!:+ :+

    A different log book question...

Since my "forced" retirement from expediting, I've been keeping up with the forums and all of the great topics you folks come up with, Now, I have a question: One of my co-workers is going to deliver an order to Charleston, SC, in a 24' Ryder truck. It is under 26,000 gvw. Does he have to log...

I won't bore you with all the gory details, but... On the application, where it asks if you have EVER been convicted of anything... they mean it!

Width between wheel wells, cargo van

Back in mt "cargo van" days, getting a 48" pallet in between the wheel wells wasn't a problem. Getting it through the even wider rear doors was the problem!:+ :+

Won't that "blemish" go away on 12/01/04? I thought you get a clean slate after 3 years. Just wondering....

How do we help hurricane victims

I believe that Landstar Express America has the FEMA contract, at the present time. I've spoken to a few drivers that have been down in Florida for several weeks now. As I understand it, FEMA "contracts" them through LEA for thirty(30) days. So, unless FEMA releases you, you'll be in Florida...

    ARE YOU SAFE IN FLORIDA?

I, too, hope that everyone came through Frances with minimal disruption to their lives. Those of us who went through Hugo, in '89 in the Charlotte area, can remember the difficult recovery period: 2 weeks without power, National Guard patrols in the streets, etc. Also, best wishes to those of...

    Good bye and thanks!

I have no idea how fast the grapevine works, but I felt that I should "officially" say good-bye to expediting. No, it wasn't the usual case of going broke, getting fired, or even getting angry and walking away. My knees got me! Came home on 08/10, went to my bone and joint doctor on the 11th...

    Trade in Value

Reading what "2Legman" had to say reminded me of a quote I think I've used here before: "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt".

    Load frequency

I think I remember someone inquiring about how often a "D" unit got loaded(the truck, not the driver!!). I just ran the numbers from 09/01/2003-07/08/2004, and came up with 2.7 days between loads. I should point out that a lot of you would consider me to be "picky", but I don't consider that...

Heat, or the lack of it!!

Again with the generator! I'm having a problem staying warm this winter due to a Pro-Heat gen. that starts out the evening keeping me warm and toasty, but over in the wee hours, I awaken to the sound of my own teeth chattering. Is it just because it is just SO cold(-3 in MI awhile back. 2, in...

    How's business?

I've been at home since mid-December(had some surgery 12/19)so I've been "out of the loop". I hope to be back in service by this Friday, 12/23. Thought I would ask how you good folks have done since the first of the year? Historically, Jan. can be a "slow" month, but being a perrenial...

When are they going to realize..

Two(2) old cliches come to mind, when I think of the Washington beaureaucrats: "He(or she) has been educated way beyond their intelligence". And "each person rises to their on level of incompetence".
