    Insurance

Bottom Line is this when it comes to insurance. As long as the insurance covers your tail you are less likely to loose everything you own. If you don't need the extras I don't see the reason for paying for them.

    Insurance

I ran with State farm when when I owned a construction business as well as I started out with trucking. Ive always had good luck with State farm when it comes to auto. The only complaints I have with State Farm was they are quick to pay off somone off even when I am in the right. Also, State...

    PILOT Air Freight

Thanks guys. I had a feeling it was a franchise of sort, this might work if they share carriers and loads with each other. I'm vetting them before I start working for them . The one here in Rochester covers most of New York State. I pulled a couple of shipments from Rochester to Albany area but...

Companies that ship higher value freight of ten check your scores, and are likely to pay better. Bob Wolf.

    Load One Trucks sitting

Unrelatable (verb) the car driver screwed up or alien invasion, some times sh happens, In other words, the CMV driver was not at fault but we're going to blame the professional driver anyway. Bob Wolf.

    60/40 Split?????

Thanks to Dave and everyone for the advice. This is why after being in business for the past 6 + years I'm here, and I refer newbies and old timers to this site. I did run for a couple weeks doing local mostly van work I have a couple days of rate breakdown sheets in front of me and...

    Load One Trucks sitting

I clicked on the SMS side and that's why I don't want to hire any drivers and if I did they would have their own authority, and insurance. I'm sure we can all look forward to our decent scores being destroyed since the media and politicians are exploiting the NJ and CA truck wrecks. Be safe...

The Future of Package Delivery (and Expediting?)

All Fed ex has to do is open the door and toss the package out as they fly over, Don't worry, the quality will be unchanged. Im yet to see undamaged air freight that I don't have to write exceptions on the paperwork. Bob Wolf.

    Where do you get off?

None of the above is considered to be preventative health care in the context of costs versus savings. With the exception of vaccinations for the potentially deadly and disabling diseases total waste of my money. Turtle hit the nail on the head. Bob Wolf.

    Where do you get off?

Health care and Health Insurance are two different things. With that said Ill go on. Good health care is a right, it what qualifies humans to be in what I refer to as upper level animal kingdom. Now I don't think we should pay for elective treatments like Botox and sex changes, and non...

    Fatigued Driving

Don't get the wrong idea I'm not making excuses for the Wal-Mart driver but has anyone asked this yet?. What about the limo driver and his vehicle? I haven't heard anything about that. Just for the drivers defense, because we who have delivered to Wal-Mart as well as other distribution centers...

    60/40 Split?????

I crunched the numbers, at a gross of $2.00 a mile 85 percent it's doable as Long as I get a decent fuel surcharge the load volume is there. Bob Wolf.

    60/40 Split?????

That's how they paid me before 15 days on the pay period run this week, counts as Friday, paid in two weeks, fuel spikes as needed, it worked out good then. I typically give shippers and brokers 15 days and that puts spendable money in the bank within 20 -25 days of the job. Bob Wolf.

    60/40 Split?????

Thanks Dave, I thought the Fleet owner covered more at 60/40. I figured I would need at least 80% so, 85% seems fair and makes sense. I can likely make the 5% difference back with work volume and let someone else chase the shipper for payment. Ill try a counter offer tomorrow and see what...

    60/40 Split?????

I looked up their DOT # they are not a broker so I will consider them as a fleet owner. I will rephrase the big question just to simplify the topic. If they are a fleet owner how does the typical 60/40 arrangement work for expenses and who pays for what? Bob Wolf.

    60/40 Split?????

A question for fleet owners and those who are happy with them. Talked to a local company they have a project they need covered they offer a 60/40 split to contractors, basically, they are working as a freight broker. I've worked with them before and never had problems getting paid and I can...

Peterbilt 335 Class 6 OK for EXpediting?

I wouldn't recommend anything 2010 and newer but my 2003 DT466e coupled to an Allison 2000 trans has around 350K, and although I wont win a drag race it pulls like a draft horse and gets decent mileage. My only complaint, I wish the rear axle had a taller ratio. Also DT and HT engines can be...
