Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

I posted a reply in the other thread showing that military members have the benefit of 100% of the Bill of Rights, but some are exercised slightly different in time, place, and manner. Actually, it wasn't. That was kind of my contention before I thought about it some more. But I remembered...

Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

Greg said: Kind of like how you said the military gave up their rights? You were quite positive about that, as I recall, yet it turned out otherwise. Now, that barb having been slung, you are largely correct here, at least, on the books, which is what is going to be enforced. No argument. And...

Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

No different than a traffic ticket, really. The cop says you made an illegal right turn or didn't come to a complete stop, the judge is going to take his word for it. That's immoral and unethical, but it's the way it works. You can go to court and fight it, just like a logbook violation, but...

Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

Lots of people say you can't do that. I always did. There are people who sign blank checks? I mean, people not in Canada? I couldn't believe that's how we had to do it when running in Canada, but surely nobody does that down here...?

Wait, he asked for it, you said no, and he insisted? And then that's where the warrant talk came in? Now it's getting weird, when you tell him he can't have the card and he insists.

You probably didn't need to mention anything about a warrant or OOIDA. A simple No in a civil tone of voice would probably do it, if it was for the card, anyway. I don't know about the receipts, but I know as sure as I'm typing that you don't have to give them any loyalty card.

Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

Wouldn't that be detrimental? If you show you fueled and you put it on your original card and then show the DOT your new card, you'd be giving him documentation that does NOT back up your logbook. Wouldn't it make more sense to just not give him a card? If you're going to give him a card, it...

Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

Put another way, could your position be restated as, "It would be prudent, if you know what's good for you, to have documentation to back up your claims, otherwise you risk being put out of service on the officer's suspicion."? Or, are you saying, "It's a driver's legal responsibility to carry...

Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

I'm pretty sure there's a happy medium here. It's reasonable and prudent to have some documentation to back up your log, but that doesn't mean it's prudent or required to help incriminate yourself by volunteering all your paperwork. No, the burden is not on the driver from the get-go to prove...

    Sitting at the Walmart

Hey, that's nothing. I was a volunteer safety patrol/first aid guy at a Septemberfest event. This old lady who plays Keno there every day couldn't find her car. We put her in the golf cart and drove her around to find it. After we had searched everywhere but the last lot, she says, "Oh, no...

That's what had me baffled, too. Why give him that? What possible reason would you have for giving it to him just because he wants it?

Hope you have plenty of money on hand. The long-awaited release of these funds will trigger substantial price inflation.

USAF Lt. Col: Bradley Manning has rights!

I knew someone would seize upon my terminology. When I say argue, I don't mean an adversarial argument. I mean to discuss, sometimes disagreeing, to arrive at the truth. You start with disparate views, but then work it out, getting closer and closer. And while this guy was an instructor, he...

Did you have to repost those? They were bad enough the first time.

USAF Lt. Col: Bradley Manning has rights!

I don't know if this is merely semantics or what, but when I say something to the effect of "You/he (the cop) work/s for me," I'm not speaking in a monetary sense, in that, since tax money pays his salary, he works for me in the same sense as a Walmart employee works for Walmart. When I say it...

USAF Lt. Col: Bradley Manning has rights!

Addressed below. Kidding no one. For it to be a liberal label, that would imply that it's coined and used by one relatively liberal perjoratively against someone relatively conservative. This wasn't the case. I heard the term used by someone far more conservative than Bush, who wasn't...

USAF Lt. Col: Bradley Manning has rights!

This isn't a normal case. This entire case is because the leaked material humiliated the US gummint, and the gummint will do anything to hammer anybody they feel is responsible. There was a political cartoon just after the leaks went public. It showed a US diplomat getting off a plane, being...

USAF Lt. Col: Bradley Manning has rights!

Why'd you have to post that? I can't un-see it, you know. I mean, the text--ok, but the pictures? Ok, so he's a sodomite. And looking at his FB page, it appears that not only should he have not had a clearance, he shouldn't have been allowed to know anyone who had a clearance. Nevertheless...

USAF Lt. Col: Bradley Manning has rights!

Oh, yeah, unfortunately. The ones who would have defended Bush had he raped a nun on the White House lawn, yes. The ones that can't identify any wrong ever done by a cop, soldier, or firefighter. The ones who think that Lee Greenwood song is good. The ones who think opposing a war of any...
