August locations with minimal blah, blah, blah and yada, yada, yada

Never saw such a segregated Walmart. All the trucks on east side and all the RV's parked far away on west side. Funny thing too, posted no T/T overnight parking, but then they have a whole row of special really deep parking spots for them! Wonder if I should move to the RV side, maybe someone...

Whats the strangest thing you have hauled?

I just took an empty car fuel tank from Detroit area to a Ford dealer just north of Calgary AB. Declared value of $138 and they paid me over $1,900 to take it there! Sometimes I just don't understand their thinking, but I still like doing these weird runs.

Who should you use to send Hazmat?

Another question about hazmat freight. Just a straight simple answer, I don't have the IQ that some of you do. Let's say I get to the the shipper and he has about 815# of paint. The paperwork would show a UN1263 for this commodity. I know it doesn't need placards because it's under the 1,000#...

    July locations .....

Picked up a CV load 2 miles from my home in Milwaukee going to Wetaskiwin AB Canada. Over 1,550 miles and paying over $1,800. Then I'll dh down to the J in Calgary and wait for a load on Wednesday. Left Monday night, deliver Wednesday morning. Had over 12 extra hours built in for resting. Wish...

Who should you use to send Hazmat?

Just an FYI for CV drivers. According to our safety department, if a cv driver hauls a hazmat load, they are required to log just like any larger truck. That includes the 7 days prior to taking the hazmat load. I was asking if I should get the endorsement, they said no. They went on to explain...

    Electric cooling fan

It is an R-134 system. I am not sure the cooling system is adequate for this van in the temps we have been experiancing. In runs about 205 down the road in any outside temp, goes up to maybe 210-215 when in stop and go traffic. Not a problem. But when I try and idle long enough to take a power...

    Electric cooling fan

My CV is 2006. The ac gets so cold that even with the fan off it starts freezing my left hand while driving. It's also plenty cold in city stop and go traffic, just gets warm when idling for 30+ minutes sitting still that I have the warmer air start blowing. As far as the high idle switch, I...

    Lrt

I saw an LRT CV at a rest area Wednesday night just NE of Indianapolis. Is he still running a few trucks or did the driver just not remove the decals?

    Electric cooling fan

It's kind of insulated. I have one of those plastic wall liners and a covered ceiling. Not great, but stays warmer and cooler then my last van with nothing.

    Electric cooling fan

Open hood is worth a try. I'm guessing an idle stick just pushes on the pedal a bit?

    Electric cooling fan

On my Chevrolet CV the a/c works great on the road and most times through traffic. When it's 100+ degrees and I try and idle the van, the air starts getting warm. I'm guessing that I need more air flow across the condenser. Have any of you tried using electric fans installed in front to push...

    July locations .....

I'm sitting in Brampton Ontario. Any ideas on how to get a load out of here? My carrier has lots of loads going into Canada but has a tougher time getting me out. Which carrier is best for getting freight out of Canada. Could try and partner with them for CV loads back to the states.

So, who's coming to the expo?

I know I'm a newbie but I'm coming anyway! LOL And I'm bringing my wife Sharon. Hoping to meet some of you regulars on this forum. It actually sounds like a great time with the entertainment, door prizes and the cookout. Looking forward to winning some door prizes too. :-)

    Scale question

I'm starting out in a CV. My wife retires in about 3 more years and at that point we may move to a ST, more for the comforts then the money. She will want the satellite TV, the A/C, heat and a real bed. Kind of an RV that pays us to travel around the country.

    Scale question

Hey OVM, I am considering moving to Rapid City SD. Is it possible to get loads from there or would I always be driving to find work?
