    Portable Generator choices for Van...

Somebody posted a picture of a Sprinter with a hitch receiver mounted on front. The receiver held a hitch mount cargo carrier, which in turn held the generator. Having the generator up front and out of the way seems like a good idea. Try a search using the words Honda generator.

    Sheryl Crow's touring requirements...

People like Sheryl Crow, Al Gore etc. are pop figures. They hitch their wagons to a popular cause. By promoting this cause they are also promoting themselves. This is a common business practice and these people are in business to make money. A real career stopper would be to align one's...

Can a driver win the Coveted 4 Star Award by Storm two years in a row? If so, then maybe soon we will be reading a post titled "The Vendetta II."

    Round Trip-50% on return run

With Panther I have run 1 round trip load. It was booked and paid on 2 seperate pros. Each load paid the same full rate mileage and f.s.c. With Con-Way I ran several round trips, mostly a Minneapolis to Fond du Lac, WI. Con-Way booked and paid the loads under 1 load number. All miles were...

A units and toll road allowances

An "A" load is just the smallest and lightest freight category in the expedite classification set up by Roberts Express. While your company may not have any "A" units, they still charge the customer an "A" rate whatever vehicle size hauls it. As for the tolls and the f.s.c. they are based on...

    Portable Generator choices for Van...

Twin Pop, there is an E.O. member and Sprinter owner (his name escapes me right now) that has been running a Honda generator for a few years. He and others seem very satisfied with the Honda. Search the archives for a thread on this topic.

    Cabover Expediter

Phil, thanks for posting that picture. I enjoy looking at photos of old trucks. (Truck porn?) I have seen similar setups in the past that pulled stepdecks and hauled jet engines. I heard it was high paying freight. By the looks of the fifth wheel setting I would say Glen may have been into...

What's the greatest guitar solo of all time?

For you Les Paul fans, Waukesha, WI has named a street for its's famous son. Les Paul Parkway runs from the east side around to the south end of town. Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa and many others are all great guitar players. But when it comes to sheer raw emotion and the...

    '98 International 9800 COE Parts ??

Production of that model ran for almost 2 decades. I'm sure a boneyard, I mean a previously tested parts depot, should have a visor. That was a very popular fleet truck, as was the TranStar model it replaced. A visor shouldn't be hard to find.

Adding Cruise Control to GM van

I believe most newer GM vehicles come pre-wired for cruise control. I think with a van all you need to do is buy the cruise enabled stalk. Check with a mechanic, other than a GM dealership mechanic for more specific details.

    Glossary: Class 7,8

Thanks Creacher. I tried to keep things in general terms. If Tuckster has specific questions, I'm sure others on here can answer them. It has been my observation that most expedite trucks are built on a class 7 platforms. Although the trend now may be toward a class 8. Serveral members on...

    Fuel Surcharge Discrepancies

Thanks Dave, I'm still operating under my Con-Way contract and its sliding f.s.c. Taking a load based on f.s.c. seems risky when the f.s.c. is estimated. But if it all works out in the end...

    Glossary: Class 7,8

A class 8 truck has a gross vehicle weight over 33,000 pounds. A class 7 truck has a gross vehicle weight from 20,xxx to 33,000 pounds. Class 8 trucks usually have larger cabs and a wider selection of engines, drive trains and axles. Most class 8 models can be spec'd with an O.E.M. sleeper...

    Fuel Surcharge Discrepancies

Why is the f.s.c. estimated? Are the total miles estimated? Is the gross pay for the load estimated? Is the customer's bill estimated?
