    Building CR & DR Units

Three photos follow. The first shows a truck we had built but then rejected for a number of vendor-related reasons (that I will not go into in this thread). It shows a Thermo King UTS reefer on the driver's side. I asked why the reefer was not placed on the passenger side, but do not recall...

Ham radio possibly saves a life

Thank you for the story, Leo. After hauling a number of Hurricane Katrina loads I set a personal goal to get a ham radio license and equipment in the truck. I believe it is an important communications resource to have. Sadly, other activities have bumped that goal to the back burner. I have the...

    Weather Alert Alarm

CB radios are available with weather alert features built in. They use the same NOAA information and alert systems other products do. We have it, we use it, and it works. Even if the CB radio is turned off, if a weather alert is issued, a loud alarm sounds that tells us to turn on the radio and...

Evasive answer. I asked what YOU do and how you do it. Perhaps I misunderstood your first reply. Please clarify what you meant.

    Building CR & DR Units

We put the reefer on the passenger side because if we put it on the driver's side, we would have to drive the truck backwards to keep the reefer on the curb side of the road.;)

RE: Speaking of T/Stops Petro Truck Stops Sold to I again say thank you to our truck stop-informed people for sharing information gained from their truck stop management experience. does your carrier have to pay for the load offered

RE: does your carrier have to pay for the load off As FedEx Custom Critical contractors since 2003, Diane and I have had virtually zero complaints about getting paid for all miles driven. On occasion, the pay has come up short on certain HAZMAT loads require us to take a longer bypass around a...

    Check Out This Truck

About vinyl graphics life expectancy, we plan on getting five years out of the graphics and then replacing them with identical graphics. We plan to drive our truck ten years. We might repaint the whole thing after five years also, depending on how the paint looks then.

    Loads Canceling???

Note to newbies: It is wise to keep a detailed run journal starting with your very first load. You can later enter the info into a spreadsheet and use it like shown above. That way, a few years into the business, if you happen to be visiting with say three drivers that have lately had more than...

    Loads Canceling???

A review of 510 loads we ran in D, DR and CR units since August, 2003 shows no new trend or pattern in canceled loads, or dry runs as our carrier calls them. There are not enough dry runs in our run total to do a meaningful trend analysis, with one possible exception. More dry runs occured on a...

    Check Out This Truck

SickDog40, Consider painting the front bumper, fenders (but not all the way to the top) and fairings dark blue or purple. That will give the truck a firmer stance on the ground and bring out the chrome (one person's opinion of course). Reefer Hauler, The graphics on our truck are vinyl. The...

Give me Water I have no Bread

So, nightcreacher, you changed your driving practices and your profits are up? Dude! You're doing it all wrong. The secret to success in expediting is to buy a truck and then wait for the roast chicken to fly into your mouth.

    Computer Mapping Volunteers Needed
