    Panther is cleaning House???

WOW! I have said this before and I am not afraid to say it again. BAN THE VAN! This goes for das Sprinter too! The van/Sprinter has completely ruined expediting. Stealing loads from T/T just isn't fair and must stop. Making a delivery and deadheading to a busy board is inexcusable and...

    Hello! More Newbie Questions...

    1) What does it mean to have one's "own authority"? I gather that the term refers to some sort of licensing-insurance-registration arrangement, but details are hard to find. Can one be leased to a company and _also_ watch the load boards and hope for a load there? What costs are involved? Must I...

    Landing Gear Placement

The purpose of the landing gear is to keep the truck from squatting down when loading with a forklift. So there really is no particular "sweet spot" needed to achieve this. I would say back far enough from the rear axle so as not to interfere with the drives and forward enough from the ICC bar...

    Load boards

Amazing! They cut Washington up into 6 boards and managed to get Seattle and Tacoma on separate boards. Are any vans showing on the, tthte thht the Cinebar board? Sorry, I was laughing. For some reason Coupeville and Cinebar would not be toward the top of my list if asked to name cities in...

    Load boards

Panther will prorate the empty move. I don't know where Coupeville is, but if it involves a ferry I would assume it is in the Sound. So if you pull up short, say southeast of Seattle, that would be the mileage you get paid. Not the full fare to Coupeville. Multiple answers from a single...

    Catch 22

I have no team experience in expedite. But I think no matter what size vehicle you drive, a team operation should have all income going to one household. Be it husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, or life partners; one income, one household.

    General questions

Con-Way LTL, formerly Con-Way Southern Express has a terminal in Fayetteville. As for your girlfriend, I am not passing judgment on her. But carriers and their insurance companies will. A DUI is difficult to overcome in the trucking industy.

    Catch 22

I think I view things a little differently than most E.O. members. In my current situation I see my carrier as a competitor. We are both competing for a portion of the pie. They will try and take as much as they can get. It is my duty to see to it that my van and I get a fair portion of that...

    General questions

Greg, thanks for backing me on this one. It is my contention that if you want to make money in the trucking industry and can't afford a down payment and cash reserve to get stated as an O/O then a job with an LTL carrier is the way to go. When I left the LTL industry 11 1/2 years ago I was...

    General questions

Superdevil, if you are looking for an excellent paying job why not get hired as a driver with a LTL company. You can run local P & D and make $18/hr. or better starting pay or run linehaul and depending on the company be home daily. As for the GF with the DUI, forget about teaming with her.

Thank you Pelcn and Turtle for the copy of the correct coversheet. The one I used, it came in my handy ACE packet, had that 2 headed logo thing and under that ACE Electronic Manifest. That may be, but both times I talked with him he sounded like a Canuck, eh! Yeah! Most of my loads out...

Friday night I picked up a load in Winnipeg, going to Grand Island, NE. Panther instructed me to fax paperwork with PAPS to FedEx Brokerage. So I did. See I can do what I am told. I waited about 15 minutes and called FedEx. They received my paperwork and said it was number 5 in the pile and...
