I heard that initially they thought 60 people didn’t make it from the candle factory, but many were found to be alive. Something around 94 out of 110 or so according to news report.

Crazy weather. Damage looks real bad. I think we had remnants of that system in Michigan. Just strong wind gusts though. Nothing like down there. Glad ok.

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

Lol, ok whatever. She talked on the phone 5 times with the sheriffs office so maybe the communication is heading in the right direction. No she appears to be more “progressive”(if that’s a proper description anymore) than the previous Democrat prosecutor. Not really pertinent to the discussion...

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

In Michigan apparently there is no law requiring keeping a gun secured in that manner. Probably a small percentage of gun owners own a safe. Most assume a gun lock is sufficient. The other examples you gave, while providing an extra obstacle or two won’t prevent someone who is really intent on...

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

That’s a interesting take on it. How about a little professionalism and competency from a public servant? The Sheriff said in his 21 years as one that he never seen a prosecutor announce charges without notifying him so that they could have the person(s) in custody. Her statement was that the...

I’ll respond later to some of these comments, but just throwing this out here. What is you’all definition of free access to a weapon? Or not having free access to a weapon?

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

Yes the prosecutor should have communicated better with the chief law enforcement officer in the county, but instead sprung a surprise press conference without them already in custody or knowing definitively that law enforcement knew where they were...

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

The Prosecutor could have made it easier in a tense environment. Not answering the phone didn’t help bring in two people that were charged. Also, she didn’t deny that they tried to communicate with her. Kind of goes against the narrative that they weren’t intending to turn themselves in.

Certainly people are upset. Downtown Detroit is a little safer than the outer areas of the city FYI.

They are disputing that they didn’t secure it. The facts will determine the manner in which they did or didn’t. Apparently in Michigan there isn’t a law that requires to do so. That is why they are charged with something else that may not fit the current statute in Michigan. It will come down to...

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

They may have decided staying at their home and being swarmed by press and potential threats against them was untenable. So needed money to stay somewhere in the meantime. It was a surprise press conference where the sheriff didn’t even get notified in advance. The distance from the court house...

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

If you’re going to report and suspend all the kids for the things they doodle or search on their phone there won’t be enough left to teach in a classroom.

The parents bought the gun, but doubt it was for the purpose he used it for.

It’s five hundred thousand each. But yes it is a lot. The Prosecutor believes they are because they didn’t immediately go and turn themselves in. Again though they may have feared for their safety because tensions are high. I think I read they tried to contact the prosecutor but she didn’t...

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

Maybe so. Certainly looks ominous considering what we know now and what happened. But kids probably draw a lot of weird stuff. And also look up all kinds of crap on their phones too. Are they suspended for that?

Why did they take out 4 k and hide in a acquaintances building? Could it be that staying in their own house would be unsafe considering the anger at them for what their son did? It was also a surprise press conference by the local prosecutor. So much so that the county sheriff was not privy that...

Oxford Tragedy: Parents and School Failed

One of the articles you provided mentioned they were disputing the claim the kid had free access to the weapon and that it was locked.
