    Apology to Ateam

No problem, hawk. Nothing you wrote in that thread jumped out at me as offensive. Dont' worry about it.

I'm getting a little tired of it

I wouldn't take anti-van comments personally, TJ959. Such comments are not so much about you or your truck choice as they are about the emotional or mental state of the comment maker. I recall a big-rig company driver recently talking on the CB about how he loved today's sky-high fuel prices...

we cannot even help each other no more

If an expediter heard another expediter calling for assistance on the CB, I believe most would stop. The problem is, many if not most expediters leave their CB's turned off because they dont want to listen to the garbage other drivers put on the air.

    Looking For Volunteers

Leo said, “Not that it isn't a good idea but the much shorter solution than a couple dozen questions for the newbie to ask me before believing anything I tell them is to tell the newbies to ask at least a half dozen members the same questions and equally weigh the responses. They should be...

Where do you park your truck?

Land Line magazine has had stories in the past about truck drivers that successfully worked with their city councils to make truck parking regs more reasonable. You might want to do a search on the Land Line web site on the topic. Owners of collector cars often have car covers custom made. Might...

    Weather

January weather in Minnesota varies a lot. I remember a January day when I was outdoors in shirt sleves on a sunny afternoon helping a friend split logs. The temp was around 50F. From posts here, it appears this January (2006) sounds like a warm one too, though temps could easily plunge to...

    Conway

Was the original post positive or negative? It was negative. The writers first sentence charges negative motives and paints Conway with a broad brush. Had the first sentence been omitted, the post would have been neutral.

    >What kind of car was involved? Sounds like one that would >have been tops in crash tests. Sorry. I did not take time to note the make and model. It was a mid-size sedan or full-size by today's standards. Years ago we would have called it a compact car. The car was brand new. The price list...

    Are you prepared?

Additional info about the accident and random thoughts about it: 1. We were behind the truck that hit the car and the first to arrive on the scene. Parking our truck on the shoulder with flashers on secured the scene (to use a term that rose in the thread) for the moment. The car was in the...

    Are you prepared?

Put yourself in this truck driver’s place. If something like this happens to you, are you prepared? This is a true story. We found ourselves in the middle of it today, as witnesses. Rural Kentucky. I-71. Light traffic. 10:30 AM. Dry roads. Moderate cross winds. Mostly cloudy skies. Road...

A Great Liftgate Mechanic in Dallas

We recently had a liftgate failure in Dallas such that the truck could not be driven and stranded us on the road. A call to the Leyman HQ for help produced a referral to a Dallas dealer, W & B Service Company. A human being answered the phone when I called. The service manager there, Scott...

    Freightliner Refuses to Honor Warranty!

We've been to that Freightliner dealer in Tampa. Based on my experience there, if I found myself broke down in their parking lot again, I believe I'd be money ahead to have the truck towed someplace else.

    When is money so important?

Allow me to add, by the definition of success I gave above, Diane and I were failures in 2005, relative to the financial goal we set. We do not consider ourselves top producers by any means, and I never said so in this thread. The top producers I speak about are other people whose income level...

    When is money so important?

Success in expediting is what each expediter says it is for him or her self. If you are achieving the goals you set for yourself (income oriented, lifestyle oriented, or any-other oriented), you are a sucessful expediter in my book.

    Introduction to Expediting

While that was not my intent when I wrote the piece, I'm OK with the idea of having it printed up as a handout. My preference would be to have EO do it under the EO name. I'll talk to Lawrence about it. It may be need to be modified to be a bit more carrier neutral. I'll let you know.
